Hairdresser reacts (and learns) to silk press on 4c hair vg: Hes used to different methods cause hes a hairdresser in NY! They just do things different out there! I went to a Dominican hair salon when I visited and lemme tell you. My hair is fine, wavy. They STILL used a round brush and hair dryer until my hair was straight and then went in with a straightener! My hair stayed straight for DAYS! I have never used that much heat on my hair in my life but I loved the way it made my hair so soft, shiny and pin straight. I was living my best life. I decided any time I go back out there I need to go to the Dominican places so I can stay looking cute lol.

Btw Brad that is type 4a one of the curries types but not 4c. Some curly hair people have multiple types Type3: (3a, 3b, 3c) and/or Type 4 (4a, 4b, 4c. You can have a head of 1 type or have multi textured hair, like me. I have type 3b plus all of type 4(a-c) in different sections on my head. The girl in the video, may have multiple textures or may not know which type 4 her hair falls into and so labeled her hair generally type 4.

I think it's a damn disgusting shame that all these damn hairdressers go through schooling and don't learn how to care for 4c hair and other ethnic hair types. Brad is more educated then your regular cheap stylist most of us can afford I saw a vid of a black girl who called 20 salons near her house and not a single one had a hair dresser who could work her hair.

Baby that straighten comb should've been a stove one. The older the comb, the better. Brad as far as the back. After sectioning in the back, u can pretty much tell how much room u have. Also depending on what flatiron u using, u can feel your way around. Pulling the hair before applying the straight iron, works wonders

Not sure if my weird emotional hyper awareness/anxiety is making me see micro aggressions that aren't happening, or what, but. anyone else notice an annoyed vibe from Brad when Emma talks? lol I am usually the last person to ever comment anything that may be seen as shade, but its 2: 30 am and I'm crushing my insomnia.

Not sure if anyone mentioned but I was made to understand that flat irons with ceramic plates do not work well for tighter curls; best to use titanium plates. Maybe that had something to do with her hair not turning out the way she wanted to or the heat treatment she used (I don't recall if she used any at all.

That woman is brave to be able to use a hot comb on camera. I gasped when I saw it but she was a pro with it. I love learning about all different hair types - watching 4c go pressed and 1/2a into tight bouncy curls. Hair is so interesting and learning more about the spectrum of hair just brightens your world!

idk if anyone is gonna see this, but imma shoot my shot: If you want to learn more about straightening natural hair, then you GOTTA look at Deeper Than Hair TV. She is AMAZING and i personally learned SO much from her! Brad, u NEED to check her out (i'm not a bot btw just a HUGE fan of both her and Brad: ) )

I love so much that Brad is open and likes to learn, although he is so good at his craft. This is what a professional does - always aiming to add up to their knowledge and to improve their technique.

I'm from the south, VA and we use curl wax which is amazing to protect the hair from heat. And I also get asked if my hair is real because it's so shinny. But I may give this stuff a try.
reply

This reallly troubling! I should have not put 4c on the tittle bc her hair is not 4c hair. her hair is beautiful, but wrong naming it, mislead individual that actually wants to learn
reply

The third girl doesn't necessarily have to have her hair already stretched out unless she said it my hair grows like that so that isn't 4C. The third girls and my hair is 4 B

There are so many companies that make silk press kits like design essentials including a hair bath, conditioner, blow dryer prep and flat iron moisturizer and heat protectant

Isn't that a little appropriation of Asian hair trying to get it all straight? I always wonder about that. Are other races the only ones who can appropriate?
reply

Brad, I have fine hair, it's become finer, since being diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I was my hair every other day, because it gets so oily. Any ideas? Thanks
