So mane by mell stated air drying is bad for your hair then she made another video to said brad Is wrong about saying air drying is better then blow drying so everytime you wash your hair you should blow dry it because towel and t-shirt drying is bad because it damages your hair cortex so everytime we need to dry our hair it get a blow dry and dry it well to me that damage your hair because there are people who wash their hair everyday or every other day and it is nonsense to put heat protection and styling products on your hair to turn around and wash it off and then put it back on again and I would think curly hair women or women with kinky wouldn't want to do that so Iam for air drying I have kinky hair that dry really fast and soak up any products that is put on my hair if water base or silicone base

Brad, respectfully, stay in your straight hair lane. As a straight haired stylist, you really should not be speaking on a curly haired stylist who is trusted by MANY girly gals as she does site her sources and breaks it down to the science. My hair takes over 5 hours to FULLY dry and yes dripping all day is mostly normal for most curly girls. This is exactly why I wont trust my head to a straight hair stylist unless their work shows they deal with curls. Because not many know what the heck is good for us and isnt unless they have curly hair themselves, or years of experience in curly hair. Being a stylist doesnt make you a pro at all hair types.

I have 4c hair and I walk around with my hair wet for hours because it takes that long to dry. That being said, it's in a protective style and it's not dripping wet. I understand how diffusing at a low heat could be not damaging. But personally, air drying has never been damaging to my hair unless it's outside of a protective style. Certainly, there isn't much definitive research on how to maintain natural hair. That being said, I swear sometimes it's damned if you do damned if you don't in the natural hair community. Just do what works for you

Bradthe Manes by Mel videodid you play ignorant on purpose - surely as you created a product line that is geared towards curly hair? Was that a way to get action on the video? Im really disappointedyou should know that curly girls with low porosity or those that need to squish to con dish and keep their hair saturated throughout the wash day process including styling have hair that takes forever to dry. We also have to worry about our scalp if it stays wet for long periods etc. Why didnt you play the whole TikTok video? Totally gone off your videos

This illustrates why curlies like me have to pay a couple hundred minimum for a cut with a specialist. I love Brad, but his advice on the few curly focused videos of his would actually ruin curly hair. I'm so lucky that there's a curly only salon in the next county over so my curls went from damaged with a loosened curl pattern to bouncy ringlets full of health. In my experience over the past four decades, it's HIGHLY rare to find a stylist who knows what curls need unless seeking out someone with a focus on curls.

12: 51 faaaaaaaack as someone with thinning hair i hate to think this is actually true because i haaaaaate washing my hair constantly. it takes a good 4-5 days for my hair to feel OILY and washing my hair always involves multiple applications of hand lotion afterwards because the soap dries my skin out so bad. honestly when i used to wash my hair every other day it felt even more fine and brittle, like the shampoo was stripping EVERYTHING off my hair. kinda think i'd rather be bald than shampoo every day.

Sorry Brad, my curls say otherwise. Styling curly hair and its maintenance are radically different than that of someone who has straight hair. As a stylist, it's a major distinction you have to know and that's why curl specialists like Mel exist. You also cut off her video before she was even finished citing her sources. I'm mega disappointed that you didn't even hear her out. Normally I love your videos but this one was just hurtful and factually inaccurate to a growing demographic.

Uh. about the wet hair thing. My hair has always been naturally curly very curly and thick so it would take hours for my hair to air dry! me and every curly haired girl i know walked around with a wet head Manes by Mel broke down the science of why air drying can be worse than blow drying (she responded to this video with research/facts) Honestly i don't think that Brad knows what he's talking about when it comes to curly hair or mixed hair while Mel is a curly hair expert.

I dont agree with either of you, its not plastic per se, but also it doesnt wash out as easy as you claim. It does repell water and takes longer time to clean, so it will cause a build up on the hair, and worse the scalp. And you keeo saying it makes your hair look and feel soft and god, but its only superficial and even worse for skin. But the huge scandal here is what it does to our enviroment, when it litterally goes down the drain

Brad u seem to not know much about curly hair since u do not have any. Actually I do not see much hair on yr head at all. So I think u should go back to the manes by mel hair video that u r discrediting and look at the research. Doesn't look like u did much research. And yes curly hair people can be walking around with wet hair all day. It depends on the products put in the hair, the environmental temp, type of hair.

I tried the brush thing. My hair is almost 3 long and on the thicker side. Brushing vertically may hurt less but its only because the brush doesnt go as deeply into the hair and therefore leaves a lot of tangles behind, so you would have to brush for 3-4x as long. Not to mention it feels awkward, with long hair trying to get all the way through the ends is weird. Maybe shorter hair is different but thats my take.

As a girl with type 4 natural hair, we DO walk around all day with wet hair alot of the time, it just doesnt look wet. In TikTok's full video, she explained why we need to diffuse our hair so that it doesn't stay wet all day. I genuinely can't let my hair air dry. One time, my hair was wet for THREE DAYS lol not even exaggerating. My hair is very dense. People with curly hair have different rules sometimes.

Wet hair is in a vulnerable state when it's wet. Air drying can take forever and can expose your hair to more damage if it's wet throughout the day because physical damage can impact your hair more. You don't need to use heat when you blow dry, you can use low or no heat and with a diffuser, the damage is almost nonexistent. Gotta disagree with you Brad
