I'm really late to the party, but I have the hugest hair myth (or fact) of all. Every hair specialist I've met told me they won't bleach nor color women's hair while they are on their monthly. womanly red situation because neither bleach nor color take to the hair in that period. When I first heard this I wanted to stab the person who said it, because it sounded insane, but then I tried dyeing my hair in that period, against professional advice, and it seems that they were actually right. I used the same dye I always used, a dark rich brown color, nice and easy, I could've done it in my sleep, BUT the color didn't stick. It sticked about 20-25%, like just a tint that only I could see because I knew it was there. Pleeeeeease explain this myth/fact in one of your videos. I'm very curious about your thoughts/experience with this.

I stopped wearing ponytails for a reason. To be fair, with how my hair sits, it's always been a little thinner looking at the center of my forehead (simply fixed by literally just moving my part over half an inch, but when I wore ponytails all the time, it definitely made it worse. So, after giving up ponytails for about 6 months now, I can see some improvement and a lot of baby hairs are growing.
My hair is long, so giving up ponytails was a bit hard at first, but I found some large clips to also put it up during work and a bath. Otherwise, I wear it down or I a headband with a loose braid down my shoulder.
I have to be nice to my hair since it's long enough to choke my to death.

The braid thing, I've heard that all my life too, especially from my grandparents. But i think it's more about lessening hair breakage than helping it to grow. I always put my hair in a loose braid when i go to bed because there's a high chance for our hair to break with the friction or whatever that occurs between our hair and the pillow we sleep on. Putting our hair in a braid (again a loose one, you really don't want to put it so tight that it hurts, it would just break) instead of a ponytail/letting it down would help our hair to not break. So yeah. I don't know how much Brad would agree with this, but it is just what i know. Hope this helps!

There was a contradiction between two of the answers he gave.
The speed of hair growth is determined by genetics, hormones, overall health and nutrition, and environment. While stimulating the scalp can help secrete oils to make hair healthier as it grows and possibly make it grow faster, once it's out of the follicle, the hair becomes dead tissue, therefore the growth from the scalp is not affected by doing anything to the ends. So no, trimming dead ends will not make hair grow faster.

This is about the greys question, I remember asking one of the substitute science teachers in grade 7 if stress causes grey hair. She said technically yes, because the hormone that you produce when you're stressed, cortisol, affects the the function of the hair follicles, which includes melanin (I think is the right term) - the stuff that colours your hair. Also, stress will affect the growth of the hair, slowing down the process.
Smoking can also cause grey hair, due to aging you faster.

For the braid question. NO braids do NOT make the hair grow faster, people say that because black people (Im black btw) use braids as protective styles, to keep our hair from breaking. The braids protect our ends, and keep our hair protected from the elements as well as every day manipulation. So were getting less breakage, which in turn makes our hair appear to grow faster and longer.
Braids do NOT make your hair grow, they simply help with LENGTH RETENTION.

Ever since I bleached my hair years ago, my hair doesn't have as much natural curls. like hardly any. And its pretty much grown out. My sister had a bad perm when she was like 2 by her bio dads gf at the time and her hair went from nice ringlets to fried forever. I think damage can cause stuff like that but not all over dyes, temp dyes, (the new dyes and perms aren't as damaging as they used to be too) etc. Maybe just bad damaging things change the make up.

Brad, just found this video, and it the comments on brushing hair (wet v dry) do not pertain to curly hair, but that is not clearly stated. I have 3a/3b curls and do brush my hair wet (with plenty of conditioner in for good slip. I absolutely do NOT brush my hair when its dry and curly because that just causes frizz. I have a brush specifically for wet hair so it can help detangle and not pull and break my hair.

Actually when you're afraid out your wits or has a traumatizing experience. You hair does turn grey depending upon how much you are traumatized
Its a medical condition and i don't remember the name but it definitely happen but is not so regular
I mean
For example
If you're afraid of dogs and suddenly you see a dog running towards you and your afraid
No your hair does not turn grey etc

The braiding thing is about protective styling. Your hair doesn't grow faster, it's just that the braiding will protect your hair from damage due to things like friction, tangling, etc, plus it reduces the need for heat styling. Less damage means less breakage, less breakage means your hair will stay on your head long enough to actually grow.

The Gray hair could come from stess.
I learned that in my beautician school and now I'm worried
But I think it maybe your age mostly, genetic? Idk what to call that and u losse pigment.
And based on your health but idk u loss hair if you're in a bad diet, but it doesn't have anything to Gray hair I guess?
