We use books and crannies here in North Carolina. I remember that an bread called an English Muffin (Im not sire what it would be called in the UK) talked about all the nooks and crannies in the muffin that was why it was the best for holding any topping you would put on top, jams, jellies, butter, etc. Also depending what area you are in will have people that were originally English, Irish, Scottish, German, (there is quite a big population of German in my area. I m not sure how far back that phrase goes back. I m 43 and have lived most my life in North Carolina except for 6 months in Poland. I m also curious about phrases and where the come from.

I ve said nook and cranny and heard everyone in my family say it my whole life lol, I m from the United States. To be fair tho my family tree is mostly from England and Scotland and Ireland so maybe that s why lol.
