Is There Hope for the Beauty Community? PatrickStarrr Rodismymuse82: I miss authenticity of the influencer, because back then they werent influencers in terms of internet fame. I also miss makeup tutorials where you can learn about what is out there product wise and how to use it to complete a look. Nowadays I feel there are less tutorials and more videos done for the sake of entertainment to obtain views over quality makeup videos. I also miss people using brands they love over brands they use because the brand is trendy online or a brand that takes influencers on trips for new product launches. An example is MAC cosmetics. People werent afraid to enjoy their products and use them for looks. Perhaps better brands exist, but it seems that people dont mention Mac because the brand and influencer have created financial & engagement motivation only for why they use.

I wish it would represent the beauty of brown skin/ dark skin people no matter what race. I feel like seeing black influencers that are well known still struggle about feeling a certain way or less opportunities because theyve been told theyre too dark or etc is so 1950s. Black women are the top most beautifully diverse ppl in the world especially the brown and darker shades. I just wish they would be more appreciated because as a brown skin woman who in everyday life is applauded for being beautiful it seems publicly in certain opportunities we still see ppl push a certain look. All women are beautiful but we support and buy all brands so I feel all brands should as well support us as the consumers.

Yes yes to everything you said. I think you, personally, have always stayed true to this triangle and this has kept you honest and relatable. I too think the community is a great place I watch so many amazing people and it's a shame a few bad apples are always the topic of conversation. Us, as the viewer, play a large role in this community being a positive place or a negative one. I think many of us vote with our views and do not understand we are driving this negativity as well. Support those individuals that you want this community to be geared towards.

One of the differences between influencers that hardly ever have conflict is those people have family involved. I think that makes a difference bc your family keeps you in check. They don't care who you are on line to them you still need to take out the trash. Patrick and a few others are well aware of themselves aside from YT. When or if there is a issue they FIX it. Character matters in any profession. Clicks and views aside they have a LIFE.

the thing that separates you from some 'established' influencers is that you don't air out other people's dirty laundry and just let karma do its thing. other influencers should take notes from you because they might have waay more subs than you but their anxiety over every story/drama involving them is causing their skin to age rapidly unlike you, who's unbothered most of the time and is too booked and blessed to care.

My favorite parts of the beauty community back in the day? Kandee Johnson. She is such a sweetheart and I miss her. I miss having her bringing that boundless positivity and encouragement. We need her, and more people like her, encouraging positivity and confidence and kindness. Come backkkkkk Kandee

The only reason the beauty community has so much toxicity and drama is because the audience keep feeding it. Imagine if no one cares and boycott dramas and toxicity, it'll be dead in seconds. What we give attention to, grows. Instead of blaming others, we should take a look at ourselves too.

I think for me what the beauty community needs is more inclusivity to all types of people. I definitely try to stay true to myself in this industry but sometimes I feel that it is hard to be unique because I feel like, personally, new era boys in beauty have to look a certain way.

I totally get what youre saying. but at the same time, no one should quiet their voice to appease the brand or the consumer. Speak your truth, vent, and have your say. However, theres a way to do and say things such that you feel heard but arent hurting yourself/others.
