it-s short at the front because you over direct your hair when you pull the hair from the back to front into a ponytail. when you have layers your ponytail will be straight and if your hair is in a V shape in a ponytail it-s because your hair is cut straight, if your hair was in a V at the start you should have kept it in a V.

I can tell you. You put a pony tail at the very top of your head. You then cut it just below chin length. This made the hair at the very top of your head chin length.
It was pretty obvious that you were gonna end up with short layers -

The ideal location for the hair tie is in the middle of your head. Just in front of the crown area. You'll get a more even cut and it works as a middle or side parted style. I cut my to shoulder length.

I regret getting my hair cut 2 years ago. Just happy more grew back and yet, it takes forever to get to a certain length because I read wavy hair V style can grow slower than straight hair like yours.

I-ve actually just cut the ends by gripping the entire shaft and gliding it between my 2 fingers to cut the ends that popped out.
