Hey guys, iam making a birthday cake on my daughters birthday two weeks from now. Ill be making a two layer vanilla funfetti cake with buttercream frosting, with chicoate drip and some meringue kisses for decoration. My problem is, im a kind of confused if i can chill my cake n the fridge which ill be using on the next day. I live in a country with high humidity and im afraid that ill be ruining some of its decoration. My daughter has been asking this cake for so long time for her birthday i just didnt do it because Iam not so confident doing it but thanks to Crumbs and Doilies for giving me the tips and techniques i can now do this cake with courage.

In Russia we usually use wooden skewers or drinking straws. And we insert 5-7 straws into each tier. Also we don't make buttercream, most of pastry chefs use very tasty cream cheese frosting (butter + powdered sugar + cream cheese) to level the cake. And because it's quite soft, it will not be possible to carry the cakes by the hands, we use large palette knives for this. The holes between the tiers close up with the same cream and you need to level again. Your cake is slightly tilted in one direction. My boss would scold me for that if it was my cake: D

Thanks for the great tutorial I have a 'how do you do it? ' question. I've been seeing these awesome 3 level stacked cakes- the top and buttom layer are the same size but it looks like the middle layer is smaller and then there are roses piped on this layer so that it looks like the same width as the other 2 layers. How do they do this? Before stacking? After? I'd love some help on this one please x

You've made my life SO much easier. My daughter asked me to make her wedding cake and that takes it from my skill level up just enough of a notch that I was super concerned. PLUS. I will have to travel with the cake to the wedding and that was a little concerning as well. I'm feeling much more sure about doing this and I will make sure to tag you on insta when it's done.

My sisters asked me to make her wedding cake next year as her wedding present, because she doesnt want to spend a lot of money on her cake. Only problem is I have NO cake decorating experience at all, this has really helped, as I tried before with two tiers and they didnt look neat I cant wait to try again now, thank you

I am such a newbie to cake decorating and so happy I have found you and your videos. Question - when you added the layers and took them off their cake drums - does that mean there is nothing between the layers (like the cardboard round? I thought that was necessary to keep each layer level. Thanks so much for your videos

Love this, thank you. Other tutorials I have watched require you to screw the centre dowel to the base board, which seemed a bit scary What would you recommend for filling in gaps if your cakes are covered in fondant? Also do you have a guide on how many portions you get out of different sized cakes please? X

To find the correct height for the pillars, couldn't you just stand a pillar next to the cake (at it's highest point) and mark it for cutting, rather than pushing it in, marking it, then pulling it back out? Just curious if experience has shown that to be a bad idea.

Thanks Jemma. I find your stacking tutorial very helpful and easy to understand. I will be making a 6 tier wedding cake for the first time next month and am nervous how it's gonna turn out but you really gave me confident on this tutorial. Fingers crossed. Malo
