I like this show mostly because it really reaffirms how most kitchen gadgets are mass produced crap with little to no care put into their design, and almost always proficiency with a knife and other basic utensils is preferable

The problem he has with scooping is you're supposed to hit the core with the blade so it kinda cuts through and you can take it out like that. Idk how effective it would be with the tools tho

Honestly, a ripe avocado is more than easy to open and cut or mash without any special tools. You just need a knife and maybe a fork.
