If you love lasagna, but don t love the time it takes to do all that layering, then this amazing lasagna soup is for you! Unlike many lasagna soup recipes, this is way more than just pasta, meat, and cheese sitting in a bowl of tomato sauce. This is real lasagna in soup form. I think this is a brilliant spin on an old classic. I ve made it many times in a crockpot (I m sorry - I know that must sound awful and it is compared to your presentation. I ll definitely forgo the convenience of my recipe just try yours which looks wonderful! And how could you possibly go wrong w buttered noodles! Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!

I love that idea of toasting the noodles, but I would cheese so you could have the crispy cheese like lasagna
The only way I usually make lasagna soup is by actually making a full thin lasagna in a pan. And then I chill it or even freeze. And then I cut it in cubes, and I make a tomato soup with marinara, and then I put the little cubes into the lasagna soup, just heated through and serve.
I get Rave reviews!

For me, there is only one casserole that I enjoy even more than lasagna, and that is moussaka. You know where I'm going with this, I would love to see Chef John's take on moussaka soup. Recipes exist, but I think it can be made to be closer to the oven dish. One twist that I would apply would be to be to fry the potatoes crispy and use those as a garnish.

Mouth watering - it looks so delicious! I can t wait to try this! Thank you! I never heard of lasagna soup before your teaser post. I rarely make lasagna because it is so labor-intensive & time consuming. I prefer creating 5 star soups, so this is a great alternative for me. I love veggies, so I may consider adding mushrooms & various squashes to it.

If you make this, there's a good chance you'll never make regular lasagna again is a bold claim, but if anyone can fulfill that it's Chef John. I legit do only ever make lemonade his way anymore, the old method of just juicing the lemons can't suffice. Try his recipes at your peril, you may just ruin food you used to love

I've been using a pasta shape called Campanelle for my lasagna soup, it's just so much easier than fussy cutting the regular strips. Definitely going to try the oven toasted version with Campanelle though, sounds decadent. These sorts of chunky pasta shapes like radiatore are my favorites.

This looks outstanding but I wonder if there is a vegetarian version that is viable. For example, could I replace the ground beef with mushrooms or would that alter the flavor profile so much that it would become another dish altogether?

The type of personal who makes their own marinara sauce also makes their own bolognese and does the full lasagna. The type of person who does a soup lasagna definitely buys the marinara at the store. You know us so well Chef John.

Thanks chef john for always providing us with interesting delicious recipes that we may or may not be able to afford.
This I have to try since I love lasagna and love soup but hate to work long and hard for my meals.

That would look even more amazing in a french onion soup crock, with the full french onion soup treatment of a good lasagna-adjacent-anyways garlic bread and broiling that cheese mixture: -).

I'm not italian but I am enraged on behalf of my almost neighbouring country! I'm joking, honestly it probably tastes good but I just can't make myself like this. I'm in emotional pain

I love the way you talk. The way you break your sentences down and add those little pauses like that is what made me a fan but your food turns out amazing! Double win for me

I wonder what will happen if I ladle this into my onion soup crocks and put some whole milk mozzarella on top and slide it under the broiler for a minute or so? Hummmm?

I made Kitchen Sanctuary's Lasagne Soup a month or so ago but this really kicks it up a notch! The frilly-edge pasta just gives it that extra pizzazz, or lazzagzz.

great video! lasagna is way too much hassle for me, but this is doable. i'd also do as you suggested and just throw the noodles into the soup and skip the baking step.

I Neverrrr remove the faylt from the soup. That's the Heart of the flavor. Also you'll be very disappointed at my cheese concoctiom as I can't have milk protein.

Ok, the baked pasta to give them that extra taste is just so good. Need to try this soon! Wonder if it would work to fry the pasta in a bit of oil or butter.

If you're using fresh noodles, would one just cook for the same amount of time (shortened, 3-4ish minutes) and proceed to bake as shown?
