This super-speedy potato dauphinoise recipe is a great idea if you're short on time but still want great flavour. Creamy, cheesy and delicious. Jamie shows you his clever cheats and takes you through every step of the way. This easy recipe is from Jamie's 30 Minute Meals TV series first aired on Channel 4 in 2010. All the food made in this video was shared out and eaten among the very lucky crew. Nothing goes to waste. If you're in the UK or Ireland you can watch the whole series right here: Read the full recipe on page 98 of Jamie's 30 Minute Meals book. Thumbnail photography by David Loftus

Spanish version. Slice potatoes, mandolin will be fine for this, blanch potatoes in boiling water for a few minutes. Olive oil to grease casserole dish, layer of potatoes, add a little crushed garlic, a pinch of oregano, a pinch of salt and black pepper and some grated cheese. Repeat and repeat till all pots are used up. Sprinkle a crushed stock cube (veggie or chicken) and pour in cream. If you are not a veggie you could put a layer of Iberica ham or something similar between layers. Grated cheese on top and place in oven. This is not a side dish it is a main meal.

I followed this video + Jamie's cook the perfect steak video when it was my 3 year anniversary. Provided my girlfried with a beautifully cooked piece of fillet steak with these potatoes, garnished with a rocket and balsamic dressing salad. 3 years later it has been tradition that I do this every anniversary and birthday (and as many times in between that she can get it. It's safe to say our relationship has been better, as all women LOVE a man that can cook good food. PS. Jamie also has a Make the perfect Mojito video so I'm also Master-Chef when it comes to refreshments.

I love Jamie's energy but I can tell you, he doesn't have to spend twenty minutes cleaning a damn food processor! And both he and Gordon call about a full spoonful of salt a 'pinch'. Avoid high blood pressure and substitute the salt with lemon or lime juice and use olive oil or rapeseed oil instead of butter. They won't smoke at the heat he mentions and you won't need a coronary bypass.

You don't have time to cook but have time to even waste it on nonsense comments. I was reading to see what you think of this recipe. What have got Dolphins got to do with this dish and what is it of use to anyone. What a shame to not inspire others as Jamie inspires us.

Please call it a 'Jamie's quick Potato oven dish' but not a 'Dauphinoise'! You're a chef and you should know better. Red onions, anchovy, bay leaves and whatnot! This isn't a Dauphinoise, period.

Non non non monsieur Jamie! Ce n'est pas un dauphinoise ca! Pourquoi faire semblant? C'est un sacrilege! Translation: please call it something else if you change the recipe completely! :O (Zut alors)

You're using anchovis, that's the swedish Jansson's temptation. Though we use loads of our own anchovies, we call the mediterrean one sardeller. #janssonsfrestelse #ansjovis #svensktraditionellmat
