Street Meat in Chiang Mai (& Don't Do What I Did)

Chiang Mai is a haven for anyone who loves to eat grilled meat. When I was in Chiang Mai, one evening I went over to the market to find some skewers of grilled meat. After walking around for a few minutes, I found a worthy meat stall, and decided to purchase a few skewers for snack. Most of the skewers were quite good and tasty, but that one skewer of grilled chicken intestines, which is usually one of my favorites, went all BAD

Its neat to see youre always enjoying the experience of eating even when the food is below sub standard levels. medium cooked pork liver yummy, and rancid chicken gizzard(was probably stored in a broken refrigerator overnight then vendor thought the flame grill will get rid of the stink and it will then taste gourmet. Did you wait for the citys restaurant inspector to arrive? Better not wait too long, The inspector might not show up until its their unofficial collections day.

Hi Mark, I really enjoyed many of your video a lot, thank you for your honesty about one of the bad apple I just happened to click one of your video, and love it so much. Your video and Rincookbook are the most favorite YouTube video for me. I will continue follow from now as long as you still have video to show us. Thank you for an excellent jobs, and hope you don't mind I asking. Are you living in Thailand? You spoke Thai excellently, and now you teach us how to cook Thai food. Awesome

Awesome Mark You NEVER say ya don't like anything. I can only think of ONE time, where the food was so salty, no one could eat it, and a hotel tried to pass off brown water as coffee. LMAO So, for YOU to spit something out. WHOA I would have went back there and returned the nasty food, and got my money back OR a BUNCH of FREE food for that crap You REALLY dodged a bullet eating that stuff Even just a bit in your mouth. ESPECIALLY (rotten) INTESTINES FAAAAAAK x_O

always best to gt FRESH, not rotten, excrement tubes. once ate a nice meal of sweet & sour pork, rice, vegs, all was good until i ate 1 spoonful of very sour, bitter, swampy cabbage. a few hours later i vomited more than i could possibly have eaten that day, 2 hours later, vomiting over but the other end of the digestive system started working for a few hours. have not been able to eat that menu again, years after. Canadian Chinese restaurant.

Everyone I know that has gotten food poisoning in Thailand got it while eating at one of the nicer looking restaurants, and not at one of the mom and pop food stands. I got it once from seafood and had to take a 4 mile trip to the doctor on the back of a motorcycle with an extra pair of paints under one arm, while the driver was screaming at me not to soil the seat.

I have eaten a lot of Thai street food, and yeah, for sure can be hit and miss sometimes and a couple of times I have even gotten sick in Thailand from the food, but it's all part of the experience and it's still fun to roam about. Some places like Chinatown or the weekend market have so many food stalls it can be a bit difficult choosing something.

Loving your vids Mark. Interesting how you look much younger in this. I am off to Chiang Mai for a holiday so was getting some good ideas for where to eat. Your comment, if it smells bad dont eat it and spitting out rotten intestines got me nervous. my question is how do you avoid getting the runs?

I use to eat meat too and I had a list of health problems. I am three years vegan and most of my ailments are gone and yesterday I rode my bike up the Doi Suthep. When you dairy and meat eaters start having health problems it's not genetic it's you diet. Good health comes from a good diet.

Liver has to be the low fat, high protein, low cost option. A few skewers might have saved me from foppish weakness: turns out I can't make red blood cells from gai and moo. I really can't wait for the summer, by which point - hopefully - the baht will have stopped pummelling the GBP.

I watched your video before I went to Thailand and I made it a point to go and try the skewers and street food. The pork a stick was one of the best pork I've ever ate. But my favorite had to be the chicken butt. My friend and I went everyday to the market looking for it. So good.
