Best Filipino street food: Mang Tootz Food House is a famous Philippines food restaurant in Manila, located in the heart of the city next to University of Santo Tomas. Because its next to a major university, it attracts quite a crowd of hungry students everyday, along with anyone else passing by and ready to eat a delicious Filipino food meal and some of the best banana egg rolls (turon) youll ever try. Mang Tootz Food House is a carinderia, a local style eatery, and to eat you go up to the front of the restaurant and pick and choose the different dishes you want to try. I got a plate of Bicol express, inihaw na liempo, sisig, chicken kebab, ginataang langka, and finally, their banana rhuma, which is what they call their version of banana egg rolls, or banana lumpia, or turon. Out of the Filipino dishes I ordered, the Bicol express, a Filipino stew of pork with coconut milk and chilies, and the ginataang langka, a jackfruit stew with coconut milk, were my favorite dishes of the meal. The chicken kebab wasnt my favorite dish as it was covered in a mayonnaise tasting sauce. Banana-rhuma (turon) - Ok finally, when you eat at Mang Tootz Food House, the one sure thing you have to order is their banana rhuma. These little banana egg rolls are amazing, and youll see them at the front of the restaurant being made and deep friend. Many people come by in the afternoon and order only the banana egg rolls, just as a snack to go. They take a lumpia wrapper, place a piece of banana on the inside, wrap it up, and deep fry it in a wok to a crispy golden crunch. The banana egg rolls are then stir fried with a caramel like mixture, and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Im not a big sweets lover, but when Filipino turon are hot and fresh, they are truly amazing, and these were the best Ive ever tried. Total price for meal - 365 PHP (7. 34)

Hi Mark&Ying What an awesome video It makes me and my hubby want to go back home so badly Just to enjoy the food we love When I first went there in 2013, I loved it so much I didn't want to leave Those Turon look absolutely delicious I want to go visit my nephew in Manilla just to find Mang Tootz's place. The food selection looked so good Have you ever visited Iloilo City in the Philippines? My hubby comes from Pavia. The SM mall has so many good food spots that you could enjoy. There are also a lot of great street vendors out there as well We love watching your videos You are such a pleasant person and the expressionism while you are enjoying your foods makes you just want to go out and try all kinds of food that you really wouldn't think of trying Have fun out there, be safe, and God bless you

One of my favorite foods, filipino food is so tasty My nieces maternal grandmother is from Manila, and Im so fortunate to eat her food. Everything is homemade, and now my niece has learned to cook her grandmas Pancit and Lumpias of course these common 2 foods for special occasions like weddings. We eat it anytime. There is not one filipino food that have not loved.

Go back the the Philippines sometime soon Mark and YingBtw a trick I learned, that works well, is to hold a fork underneath the calamansi or lime and it keeps all or most of the seeds from popping out. I always wince when you squeeze seeds all over the food then dig in. You don't need that much fiber. Take care
