What I eat for brain health (foods to boost mood) Aelyn: Vitamin D really is a thing! I've been noticing a HUGE mood improvement since I started taking a vitamin D supplement. I live in a northern city where we get 5-7 hours of sunshine per day from November till April (and sunshine is quite a strong word for what we actually get, lol, so, I guess, there's not too many options for me to get that vitamin

I always aim for having a healthy and long life and I know it s all in the food that we eat. You are what you eat is a quote that I truly believe in.
Sometimes I feel like I have days or weeks where I derail from my healthy routine due to life stress and things that are beyond our control. It ll always be a struggle to be consistent.
Thank you for the reminder that it s okay. Sometimes hearing it from someone else really helps
Also I ll definitely go and grab some Brazilian nut for more daily selenium intake. Can t believe one gives you more than enough serving! Great tip!

Love this video and so funny that you talked about protein and amino acids. I read an article the other day about vegetarians and vegans who went back to eating meat and the article mentioned a lack of amino acids on a vegan diet. Can you explain where amino acids come from on a vegan diet? I feel so confused by all these articles out there especially an article like this trying to justify eating meat and dairy because it s supposedly healthier.

Great video as aIways! It was a great reminder with insights on brain health. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2013. I'm not a total carb person but like everyone I have my moments. Keto mixed with a few complex carb days is how I have controlled my levels for years, while strictly taking my meds. My last A1C was 5. 8 but it's the holidays, I've gone a bit carby crazy, lol.

I wonder if this is part of the reasons why people might feel more depressed during the holidays, because of what we eat. I understand that there are bigger parts and reasons than eating to make people depressed, but this made me wonder if what we eat could enforce someone s mood from bad to worse, and help from bad to better.

This was so useful! I have multiple disorders but I most strongly see the connection between food and my bipolar disorder. Since I started taking an EPA (plantbased) oil with my medicine I have not become depressed or manic anymore (other factors sometimes do) but with this info I m sure I m gonna eat that away too!

I've literally just had a long conversation about this with my mom today. I've been depressed and anxious for a long time and I was trying to find natural ways to lower my cortisol which was tested too high. I wanted to ask, how much of the vit D and B12 supplements you recommend?

Hi Sadia! Thanks so much for the amazing informative video again! I had a question about vitamin B12: I've been taking supplements, but one tablet seems to be 40000% the daily recommended intake. Is it harmful to get too much B12? Thanks so much!
