Self twirling forks, a vegetable sharpener, a tea tool and a breakfast toaster. We reckon James and Ben's heads might explode if they caught us using these BUT useless or not? You decide. TheConanRider: I think the egg cooker/toaster was brilliant. I used to have to get up very early in the morning for a long commute so that would have been a great alternative to the toast or cereal I was eating on a daily basis.

How I make tea:
1. Boil water.
2. Put Bushells Blue Label tea bag in mug, along with two teaspoons of sugar.
3. Pour boiling water into mug, but only to fill 2/3, 3/4, of the mug (something between those two; visual estimate.
4. Continuously dip tea bag until the colour remains constant - no more colour changes - then remove and bin tea bag.
5. Pour in milk until mug is full.
6. Stir with teaspoon and enjoy.

I see absolutely no difference between adding bag first or hot water first. The tea will still steep into the water.
People who add milk first only do so because historically tea cups were very delicate against heat and hence cold milk was added to save the cup from breaking. The habit just stayed.

Actually i like the Japanese version of the all in 1 better. Hot plate + Toaster oven + Drip Coffee pot. while it may seem like a novelty the darn thing is great for students, RV/Campers, and such because it takes up comparatively little space.

Squeezing a teabag brings out the bitter-tasting tannins. If you're in a rush, gently swoosh the teabag around the cup and then lift it out with a minimum of squeezing. Most people don't like the taste of tannins.

I loathe all in one toasters. Dad loved them and they were horrid to clean. He never cleaned up so we had to once we discovered it used. Who know how long it had sat filthy. Just use a damn pan.

Who squeezes tea bags? That just makes your tea taste like shit because you just squeezed all of the tannins you don't want into your tea and made it just a bitter cup of disgusting brown water.
reply

What's the point in putting the bag in before the water? It should have no difference.
I could understand contention between putting in milk before or after the tea.

Three years late, but having worked in a retirement home, all i can think of when i see the twirling fork is accessibility for people with Ehler-Danlos, Parkinson's, etc.
