The age old question. does pineapple belong on a pizza? We went to Pizza Pilgrims where they're trying to settle the pineapple on pizza debate once and for all. Ham and Pineapple pizza. where do you stand? And is table football (foosball) the answer to solving life's big debates?

Random ingredient topping? No. Equalizer for sweetness and saltiness? Yes. Pineapple fits perfectly with bbq or perrins sauce, with any other acid ingredient like orange or vinegar, and in general with any extreme flavour that just needs a tone down.
Personally, I prefer the taste of orange, flowers, or local aged cheeses for pizzas to give a surprise twist, but pineapple is faaaaaar from the worst offender, and is simply badmouthed cause it works on the chemistry level of other ingredient while doing exactly the same that tomato does, except that the tomato is balanced enough for it not to taste sweet or acid.

Personally, I love pineapple on pizza. Sweden, where I'm from is probably the home of weird toppings on pizza. My personal favorite is the pizza with pineapple, banana, peanuts and curry. (don't knock it till you try it. But one of the most popular pizzas in Sweden is the kebab pizza, simple kebab on pizza some times served with french fries on top yum!
One more fringe type pizza that you only can get in the north is a type of calzone pizza with a burger and fries inside, but I never tried that one myself.

Love to see your take on a northern Canadian/Alaskan delicacy. Seal flipper. Buried in the earth for a months, rotting, then cleaned, boiled and eaten. yep, no joke! If you venture here, please read up on it as it can be toxic, Hawaiian, (Ontario, Canada, pizza, on the other hand, is among the best in the world. Windsor, Ontario is especially famous for it's pizza although Hawaiian pizza is said to have originated a bit closer to Toronto. Cheers and best from this expat Brit!

I was (today) years old; while re-watching this video; when I realized that Barry hates pineapple on pizza, but is also allergic to pineapple. Which is understandable and justified. But hawaiian pizza is my ultimate go-to pizza, and no one can tell me otherwise.
On another note, how did Barry survive the making of this video with the amount of pineapple that he ate, though?

I'm from Malaysia. And I grew up eating (loving) Hawaiian Pizza! I never even knew that people had such strong opinions of having pineapple on pizza. Also, I'm like Barry, allergic to pineapple but I would happily eat the pineapples on pizza (never seems to give me allergy, maybe because it's already cooked)

Only reason this video got a like: the foosball game had the proper outcome. Pineapple on pizza is not in any way, shape, or form necessary. And IMO, it's also not a good idea, but that part is subjective unlike it's uselessness on a pizza - which is fact.

Try this pizza idea. Tropical pizza with a white sauce, shrimp, coconut and mango! It is surprising delicious. Pizza fusion is fantastic. Im not sure why people are so rigid about traditional toppings and willing to miss out on great new ideas.

As an American with both Hawaiian AND Italian heritage I find pineapple on pizza an abomination. Pineapple may be the best fruit out there and pizza may be one of the best most versatile foods as well, but they don't belong to each other.

I agree with ben I don't think pineapple goes well on pizza or with tomatoes in genera but to be fair I'm not fan of very sweet things with savory anyway I like sweet and salty but not sweet and umami.

While I CAN eat pineapple on pizza- if presented with it I would generally eat the grilled pineapple off the pizza - then eat the remaining pizza as it should be eaten; without the pineapple
