As a Filipino, the dish looked a bit like Atsara/Achara. And if the sake was sour (can it be sour? Lol, then that dish and Achara can taste similar for having the 3 basic components: sourness, sweetness and the veggies. We can consider the fish too, because Achara is paired with salty food like most fried food. Now im curious how they compare.

watching this series of rie talking to english speaker, reminds me of how hard it is to understand foreigners. Like me talking to japanese store keeper looking for sweet soy sauce, and me hearing she explaining that they don't have one. We both got rie's frustrated face xD language barrier is real.

Understanding Japanese myself and watching Andrew navigate through Rie s instructions was really interesting! I was able to see what it s like to hear Japanese from the perspective of someone who doesn t speak/understand it fluently. And the sake and salmon part was hilarious

i feel like andrew would be good at learning languages in general, he seems to have a good ear for pronunciation and ability to deduce from what he already knows/remembers. it's fun to watch or maybe that's just my inner former linguistics student surfacing lmao.

I love this, honestly. It reminds me of my brother, cousin, and me. When we visited my cousin (who lived in Japan, my cousin and I would say stuff in Japanese and try to get my brother to guess what we said. Fun stuff.

This series would be a bit more interesting if they can not see but just hear the instructor. Whereas instructor can see and what the user is doing and also hear them and instruct them based on there voice.

I remember watching Andrew be creepy guy back in the day, hoping he would be in more videos. Never thought he would have ended up as the food guy! And I am here for it

Man, I'd love to do this. I speak just enough Japanese to get by conversationally, but don't know specific directions and such used in cooking. It'd be great practice.
