This must have been built anywhere from the 20s to 40s. The horror room was probably some kind of built in buffet or butlers pantry similarly done as some of the other built ins. I wonder what they bottom apartment looks like. Unique homes in Orange county where I grew up, in older areas had similar homes or an entire mothers cottage in the back of the long lot. What is was, was maids quarters. Homes were built so well back then. They planned the use and used very nice architectural details. My friend had a house in Long Beach that was opposite. The family part was upstairs. 2 garages on street side down stairs and. Small rental apartment in the back of the first floor. The mirrors. an 80s thing when they thought a lot of mirrors brought in more light. All sliding closet doors were changed into mirror doors too. In the closet between the bedrooms you could hang your clothing low and put other storage up. Like shoes, blankets etc. to not block the light. The home we retired to was built by an eclectic artist. Who had lived in LA actually. We are now in Owens Valley. She also came her via Germany and New York so the style is all not normal. The bedroom closet was just an unused alcove as all the major closets we in a departed wall at the front door! This home also didnt have a bedroom. Like a 64 foot loft house. So I realized the alcove wasnt even on each side of the window as they stole some space for the bathroom. So we just hung two closet rods with shelves on one side. Bought a vintage 40s 3 mirror folding door medicine cabinet of the other wall and one of those walmart cloth drawer dressers for my stuff. I used this area for dressing room, make up etc. as there is no storage in the bathroom. Hint on those units that come with drawers. Dont buy the ones listed for bedrooms unless you want a thinner one with boxes only 8 x10. Looking around started loading that one in then saw the living room one in another section of the store. Got that one instead. More sturdy. Bigger drawers. Im catching up on your videos. Tons of mask making in last few months.

Damn that's a nice place. so many windows! The size of rooms compared to new builds in UK is crazy. We are squished! And we have to put wardrobes in our bedrooms, no extra closet space. My youngest daughter's room is so small there is no room for clothes, they are downstairs in hallway. (nearly 14, so it sucks for her)
Garden is fab space as well, already nicely done.

since i've been living in LA, looking for a new apartment always leaded me to a giant struggle with lack of natural light. Literally, sometimes i feel like americans don't like windows at all - they make them small, or weirdly located.
what i was going to say is ANDREW, i feel like u r so lucky to find this apartment! it feels unreal to be, in terms of LA)

WOW! This is such an exciting video for me to upload! I am so grateful to be able to move into an apartment like this. Feel free to skip to 4: 54 if you don't care to hear about why we had to move + who my new neighbor is! Enjoy and stay safe!

Its magical. maybe your alcove could be like a reading, relaxation sacred space room for yourself. Also awkward horror movie room could be used as a pantry perhaps. or to put away bikes or workout stuff or something I dont know

The alcove in your room could be a meditation area. You're very frenetic, and I imagine it might be nice to have a chill spot. Also, if you're paying less than $3500 a month for that place, I hate you. :)

The cabinet thing in the laundry room is for an ironing board. It's probably painted shut. If you loosen the paint and get it open you'll probably find an ironing board already in there.

The horror room would have been a coat room. I would have said it was a boot room but theres no exterior door. So yeh 70s coat room thats probably been repurposed into a bar area.

Hi, that nook in the hallway is what people used for their telephone. Thanks for the apartment tour, loved all the windows & light. A blessing to have garage parking and a yard.
