I show you how I made two fairy house lamps using a plastic bottle, tin foil, paint, hot glue and paper clay (I used Das modelling material - ) This is a great way to teach children about recycling plastic bottles and also stimulate their creativity and imagination. I first cut the plastic bottle in two pieces. Then I build the shape of the houses using tin foil and hot glue. This is a fast way to achieve a basic volume that will be the base for our paper clay. I made some mushrooms on the side of the house and also above the door. I used some metal wire from a hanger to make the curly roofs. You should now have the basic shape of your fairy house. Cover everything with paper clay (I used Das modelling material but you can use any paper clay or even a homemade paper clay - I have a video about that -. You can work in one layer or, if you are a beginner you should work in two layers, one for covering the surface and the second one for the details like windows, door, wood texture, bark, mushrooms, door steps, curly roofs. Considering it will be a lamp you should also draw as many windows as you can so the light will come out nicely. I made a nice tree of life ornament on one of the doors. After the paper clay is dry you can easily add more details using tin foil and hot glue. Let everything dry. Now you can paint it in the desired colors. I used watercolors and acrylic paint for painting because I like working in layers and be able to change if I don't like the way it looks. In the end you can seal the paint using some matte spray varnish. I placed some battery LED lights in the house. I recommend you use soft lights that will gently illuminate your windows so it looks like a real house. DON'T USE HOT LIGHTS!

Hello creative mom!
My name is Roberta and I am a disabled 42 yrs old lady that had stage IV lung cancer and metastasis in the brain 5 years ago. I have been fighting and winning the disease for 10 years this October 2019!
I am not able to use my left arm and hand anymore or my whole left side has paralises. I can walk, move my arms, drive, paint with my right side of my body. but. I cannot do manual work like cutting holding things with my left hand to use a knife to cut card board or hold something to glue with a hot glue gun os scissors! It is very difficult to do anything crafty! But I still do it! - I cant live without making things! I love your work and I tried to imitating one of your houses and it took me almost 20 hours and 4 days to make it! It was hard, frustrating, sad, physically and mentally difficult for me. but I did it! I made a mini one because I thought it would be easier for me to hold the stuff together! Girl, it was a challenge? But I was very happy I finished and all my family and friends where very impressed, proud and amazed that I was perceiver to finish it!
Thank you for your work and for inspiring me! Roberta, June 2019

You explain that you use watercolor and acrylic paint, could you explain to me where to use both in which part of the design, and if you mix both watercolor and acrylic with water because I see some pale colors and other strong tones, greetings from Guatemala

I've been watching so many of your videos. I finally decided to make one! I'm making it up as I go with a plastic applesauce bottle. I've glued on some pebbles in a few areas and am thinking of using spackle to fill in the gaps? Thoughts?

What good is a fairy house that can't go outside? I don't know how you get air dry clay to stick to plastic. I've tried 3 times, none of it stuck. You sure as hell can't put these in the garden, hot glue falls apart when outside.

I'm becoming obsessed by these videos - and yes, I would love to live in a house just like the ones you make! :) Thank you so much for sharing these.
