I show you how I made a fairy castle lamp using a Coke plastic bottle, tin foil, paint, hot glue and paper clay (I used Das modelling material - ) This is a great way to teach children about recycling plastic bottles and also stimulate their creativity and imagination. I first cut the plastic bottle in two pieces. Then I build the shape of the castle using tin foil and hot glue. This is a fast way to achieve a basic volume that will be the base for our paper clay. I made a little tower on the side of the castle and also built the pointy roofs out of tin foil. You should now have the basic shape of your fairy castle. Cover everything with paper clay (I used Das modelling material but you can use any paper clay or even a homemade paper clay - I have a video about that -. You can work in one layer, or, if you are a beginner you should work in two layers, one for covering the surface and the second one for the details like windows, door, wood texture, door steps and roof tiles. Considering it will be a lamp you should also draw as many windows as you can so the light will come out nicely. I made a nice tree of life ornament on one of the doors. After the paper clay is dry you can easily add more details using tin foil and hot glue. Let everything dry. Now you can paint it in the desired colors. I used watercolors and acrylic paint for painting because I like working in layers and be able to change if I don't like the way it looks. In the end you can seal the paint using some matte spray varnish. I placed some battery operated LED lights in the castle. I recommend you use soft lights that will gently illuminate your windows so it looks like a real castle. DON'T USE HOT LIGHTS!

OMG! I love your videos. I am in the process of trying to make this. LOL Girl you make this look SO easy. And it is NOT. My aluminum foil must be thicker than yours cuz mine doesn't seem to want to form that way. LOL And my hot glue must get hotter than yours cuz I keep getting burned. It really does, I turned it off and as it cooled it was much easier to work with. I will get another. whew just grin and bare it. peel it off when it cools. Thanks again! On one of your next videos could you show more of how you shape the aluminum foil. I wish I would have learned how to do this when my 5 kids were home because now I'm gonna have to hear about it when I make these for the grand kids and they didn't get one.

Great work! Quick question: any ideas how to avoid using tin foil? The aluminum is not really environment friendly. Thanks a lot!
