I do know i once heard another artist mention after rubbing on a transfer and darkening it up, you should spray it with a workable fixative, or varnish so when you paint the pattern the graphite will not smear or blend into your paints. wondering about your experiences and thoughts cause I have not painted a layout yet, but want to when i advance to portrait painting. someday.

Thanks Brandon, I always have a lot of trouble transferring the image onto the canvas as I can't draw. Now you've shown how to do it I can't wait to give it a go. :-)
