You are not the best teacher. That is because nobody is the best teacher. But making that statement has hit us with a bomb. You made us suddenly wake up to reality. i plead guilty that when I see a youtube or browse through an art book I try to find the perfect answer. And from the posts I read many fall into similar traps. There is no perfect answer except to experiment time and time again. What is important is never to let failure discourage you. (though there were times when I did feel depressed) So people do not do like I did but smile and keep going and do not take it too seriously. Having said all this there is no harm in seeing the tutorials and taking what information we can thanks to you and company. But your comment has taught us (or me at least) a great lesson. And I am old enough to be your father (65. Like you say PEACE. And like I say thanks a million dear friend. Good day I am going to take a walk and then go and paint.

thank you for your lessons, they have been really helpful. Do you feel that layering will create a more realism type of painting? When I for example look at any picture on photoshop as a reference, there are 1000s of different shades of colors in one picture. im still trying to understand layering but I believe if you have 15 layers lets say of different shades, one upon another, you can achieve that realism look to your paintings. what are your thoughts? and what is the best way to achieve realism?

Thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos. I am a nurse but became disabled a couple of years ago, so I can't work anymore. Looking for something meaningful to do & found your lessons. I have learned a lot, especially when you break down techniques & demonstrate where they would be used, like the mist. I am sure that your audience is varied in many ways, so don't ever think that you aren't being helpful. Also, thanks so much for offering this free. not much of that around!

Thanks for sharing as much and as often as you do. Your vids have been the most helpful Ive found. Especially for beginners like myself. I think Ive exhausted the available vids here and on how-to sites, etc. Thank you for spending the time on all of the little things that seem to be missing in other instructional videos. Your honesty and humility is greatly appreciated. I was trying to explain to a friend that I - try and make mistakes in order to accidentally discover simplicity. -

I've learned a bunch of tips/tricks that I never would have known. I haven't had any schooling, but have done art in one form or another. It's been a dream of mine to paint and I finally picked up a brush back in October 2012. would love to share my stuff and get your feedback. Off to watch more lessons, thank you for sharing.

Thanks for your tips. They are very helpful! I like that the fact that you mentioned to do what works. I have figured out that if i use 2 brushes at a time one to lay paint and a dry one to blend, things work out pretty well. I thought i perhaps was doing something incorrectly. your video assures me that it's all good. :)

You're a wonderful teacher. With cookies? You're pretty damn good for only a year of painting. I've done under twenty paintings starting 07 and only from watching videos like this and experimenting. I might put a video together of my work to see what people say about them. good and bad.

I love your acrylic series, I like how you kept them at small time intervals but most of all I like how you presented the lessons in a soft tone voice, and to the point where I could watch several episodes nightly, thank you, and your paintings are awesome,
