Cultivating Patience for Drawing SchaeferArt
video description
so I was watching a tutorial how to draw clouds with oil pastels but it took so much detailed working and mine didn't even look like the video's one. So i got impatient in the middle and kinda press the paints too quickly on the paper. eventually it got worse: ) and i called it a day. maybe I thought the painting wouldn't need so much time and effort: (

lol if i start drawing i dont stop for at least 3 hrs,
i. e until it looks good.
i dont want to put a timer cause after that long, when i see my drawing its way more satisfying.
i kinda feel like, am i the one who drew this.
and if i draw for 15 minutes it dosent look good for sure. So, i spend my time in one drawing for 2-3 hrs.

It all takes time to make good art so you have to use it. If you don't have the time or don't want to spend the time doing it you won't get out of it what you wish. But yes a bit at a time is better than nothing and it will add up.

I feel like I have less patience these days and wander away from whatever task I'm trying to do whether it's drawing or chores. It helps me to listen to podcasts or music while I'm working. Seems to keep me on task.

Thank you, Eleven year old learning to draw. I feel like this is the right path for my life and career, I used to be unpatient and I never detailed my drawings, but now I heard that I need to be patient. I thank you for that.

Thanks. Seventy years old and just learning to draw. I try to do it every day. No formal lessons. Just watching artists like you and trying to learn. Am I doing it right? Not looking for a career, just loving the process.

Thank you for discussing patience! The art is also amazing. I think this is a very common problem for people trying to learn how to draw but just isn't as addressed. Small practice is still worth it!

Meditation helps a lot. I am generally a patient person, but like you said the second kind of patience is the hardest cause most of us wanna get good at something quickly. Great video. Greetings from Greece!

It was so good and useful like always. Also I love your advices and experience. Could you please tell about what number of ink pen you use or everything that you use through your drawing. Thank you so much

Thanks Brendan, it was a nice tip. I do enjoy drawing but I can draw only using references. I don't know why am not able to generate my own ideas when it comes to drawing. That's why I prefer to sculpt.
