The thumb in this skeletal form is bend in a double jointed impossible way unless this thumb is dislocated. When I look at my own hand to try to understand the movement being made my thumb, the metacarpal and the first phalanx remain straight at best when the second phalanx is in the bent position. So when my ip joint is bent I cannot reverse the mcp joint, it can only go straight at best. thanks for the lesson I never would have looked up the anatomy other wise. by the way love watching all your videos and your helping me to be a better artist.

Looks great! I always forget how much fleshy stuff is between the metacarpals of the thumb and the index finger. I'm somewhat confused about the thumb position on this one though. Do thumbs bend that way? Or is this supposed to be a Halloween inspired hypermobile hand?

Very cool, Stan. It was a bit hard to follow in the begining, but all made sense when the black pencil lines came in.
So, thanks, black pencil!
Seriously, though, the thumb looks odd to me, like it's zig-zagging.

There are NO shortcuts to drawing hands - you have to put in the work yourself! Tutorials like this do help massively, of course; -) However, comic book artists draw hands perfectly every day so don't diss the cartoonists!

This hand series is gold.
I know its a too late reply that you'll never read, and you probably hear that all the time, but this is helping me so much. '-'
I can't believe how much I've learned in just one month.
