In this lesson Court teaches you a left brained approach to solve exaggeration and capture likeness. It-s one of the biggest problems that beginner caricaturists face. Go premium at In the first part of the caricature course, Court taught you the fundamentals of caricature. He walked you through how to draw thumbnail sketches, rough sketches, abstractions and a final sketch. In part 2 of the course, Court expands upon the fundamentals you-ve learned and helps you build your caricature muscles. This lesson will teach you about how to create checklists to brainstorm the features you might exaggerate in a subject. There-s a crazy amount of demonstrations in the premium course at

i. i mean, the technique itself seems right, but i think i disagree a lot about which traits on hillary to exagerate. so much that i couldnt really recognize her in your drawing either. It's funny, like we see different things when looking at the same person/picture

I dont see her as having a big nose. I think this is why girls end up getting plastic surgery. They could have a normal nose but its expected for females to have a nose like emma watson or they'll hear 'you got a big nose' their whole lives

This is a great course. Well done Court! Big help. Euan Mactavish (UK) uses a similar verbal method to plan before drawing. Hoping that you can treat the topic of doing caricatures of folks with really average faces.

You think every nose is big and wide. Or at least noses I think are normal sized. You should meet MY nose. You'd write down -massive nose, literally truck sized. Planetary nose- LOL Also aging jokes = not cool

That caricature of Hilary doesn't look like her to me. If I had just looked at the drawing without the reference photo next to it, I would not know it was her. I would guess a politician, but not her.
reply

but how do you do caricatures of people who really don't have any noticeable traits? I've been trying to make one of lexa from the 100 and I just cannot find anything that makes the drawing look like her
reply

Who is the guy starting at 6: 01? If we're suppose to start with the 'big shapes and then move on to the details' as stated at 6: 00, then hair should have been 1st or 2nd on the Hillary list instead of 9th.
reply

If you're wondering why they chose Hillary instead of Trump, it's probably because there have already been thousands of caricatures of Trump, and it wouldn't be as interesting or as challenging.

I'm gonna try the list technique, not just for character illustrations, but for other art projects, too. It sounds simply brilliant!
reply

Lmao! Proko you're a genius! After looking back at the thumbnail I realized that the shadow of Hillary Clinton is Donald Trump!
