I guess I-m 2 years late to this video, but I have a counterpoint to watching TV / listening to music while you work. I regularly put on a show while I work and it keeps me focused and productive because it quiets the voices in my head that are harsh and critical. However I do not watch new shows while I work unless I do not care to pay attention to them because I-ll miss plot points, etc. The attention is still on my drawing or painting task. I feel the background noise distracts the part of my brain that would normally be telling me how crappy my work is and that I should just give up

I love sir kim jung gi and i remember there was the thu event (2017) and one of my buddies was attending that event and sir kim jung gi was going to be there so I went to the shop bought a new sketchbook, gave my buddy and told please can you get me his autograph, and she did get me his autograph and that has been my motivation since then. Every time I feel low or just having a bad day, i open it up and look at it and cry and get back to drawing. that keeps me motivated to draw more and helps me stay alive

Oh I feel like music on and off does help me from time to time because I have anxiety issues and sometimes need something to calm me down to the point where I don't need much of it anymore.
Honestly it comes down differently from person to person and yes people just have to try new experiences such as that,
Richard Williams said it's helpful to those who have attention deficit, I don't think it's always a bad thing, I just think he just pissed off Milt at a bad time lol

The best trick to focus is making a to-do list that is broken down into absolutely elementar tasks that won-t even take a minute to finish. ok, five minutes max.
Make sure to actually physically write down this list at the end of every workday with 100 microtasks so you can physically look at it on the subsequent day, and you'll find it impossible to fail.
Make sure to do the first micro task no longer than 30 min after you wake up, so you will build a momentum early on.

It has been 8 months since I joined my new job as an associate artist, for a month I am working in a project that doesn't involve any drawing and I was just looking for ways to boost up my morale to start drawing and working on my portfolio. That's when I found you guys! I listen to your podcast while I work and it encouraged me to start drawing daily. Thanks!

No joke. I do like listening to some youtubers while doing studies and loose sketches. You guys, Rhystic Studies, Jacob Geller, all of which transmit very good vibes, yall do your videos with passion, you talk slowly, clearly but with a lot of energy and your conversations build up to very pleasing conclusions. So while warming up, I think its great.

This podcast was wonderful and yes it DID help me focus on painting since you were talking about progressing forward through focus with an entertaining conversation at the same time. I was able to background this while only focusing on my art. Surprisingly I got more done during this podcast than the previous 3 hours of painting this evening.

man prokopenko I see you getting a little frustrated. dude does have a golden voice but I can't stand listening to him miss the point over and over. if he was mindfully eating he would've remembered how long he was doing it and what he ate. I bet he was just planning on how he would tell the story later and missed out on the experience

so a fun focus thing i use is giving pre determine title or jobs to my sketch books. my mix media sketch book is just master studies and my large cheaper paper sketchbook and copy paper is for doodles, sketches, and idea generating. I also have a dream sketchbook that has a mix of drawings and notes that i keep my my bed.

Stan hi I love to laugh at Marshall and your banter. I just want to point out that Marshall talks in rhythm like Adam West in character as Batman. I must say I do find Marshall more entertaining and educational than Adam. Keep up the good work educating and entertaining us all with sincere laughter.
