Quick Tip for any younger artists, a great way to get hands-on experience is to go to open houses and such at your local art colleges and universities, not only to see what it would be like, but also to network with other artists, and to see what programs they have for free that you can go to. I have a great opportunity with a local art university near me, they have a program where high-school juniors or seniors can come in every Saturday and take any single art course for free with the actual professors, while my figure drawing and hatching and all that stuff was good before, being with other artists my age and having hands-on critique is definitely pushing my art to another level, and I just discovered this program by accident at an open house.
If you want to critique each others work or whatever, my discord is Bennyboi#9907. I am harsh even on myself tho, so don't think I'll give you a break lol.

I would LOVE to have an art mentor, but I'll be realistic-. Just having an -art buddy- would help me so much at this point! I'm 38, always had a certain talent but never did anything with it (bcs drawing is a -waste of time-, right? Also, I'm very anxious about drawing/painting. I'm looking for someone to be my motivator and vice versa, bcs now I realize that my happiest times were those with a brush in hand. And that I regret being at beginner level when I could have had so much experience by now. Would anyone be interested in being my -drawing friend- to keep in touch online and keep each other working and building a habit? Please let me know-

The biggest mistake in drawing is putting the pencil down, because what the artist draw is an expression of inner curiosity and exploration. any shape of line or tone shade is the drive the artist development into your characterization through out time. So, balance your time and draw! never put the pencil down.

My mentor is my Best Friend. She's the same age as me but she went to summer classes before quarantine. She's not the best artist but she teaches me the basics like shading, anatomy, point of views, and basic painting techniques. We want to improve together so we are learning online (Youtube.

i actually cant see art as a book related learning experience. I WISH I COULD. its because i draw to escape from my studies. sooo my mentors are from YouTube and Instagram ( for inspiration ) and anatomy references ( regular body pics or models )

Never had a mentor, self-taught and only info I get is from youtube. I really wish I had one, would boost me a lot. Or at least more experienced friend. Stumbling in the dark for years was really not productive at all

2: 30 I just checked out the work of Cornelius Cole online, and he has a lot of other good stuff. Why would you put up this image of his lmao? No offence, his work is great, but tbh this drawing doesn't look too great.

An art mentor would be sweet! Really at this point i just would like someone to honestly critique my work so i can improve. I love the stories of the relationships that came about through art in this! Great video!

I really REALLY need a mentor. I have so many ideas that are transparently clear in my head but I have no direction what so ever all my ideas are in great need of stability.
