3 - 5 years sounds good, but I don't have pressure, so I'm aiming for 8 to 10: D enough time to drive the new start up I'm working at to success and then start over with a career as illustrator or similar - or just enjoy my progress and findng out that painting for a job sucks - who knows (maybe also the start up fails and I will find something else to do before thinking about learning to paint)

We had a professor who wouldn't let us use anything but Prussian Blue, Crimson Red and Yellow Ochre (White was a default) whenever we were doing colour study and portraits. He used to say that once we were accustomed to painting anything with those three colours, then we could move onto others. :)

Is there any way to reduce the risks associated with oil painting? and from the gesso, turpentine, and the pigment overall? Last time I tried I got very very dizzy and I would love to start some color studies in oils.
