Drawing Anime from Simple Shapes - Christopher Hart ForeverSleepy: I'm a programmer who wants to pick up some art skills in order to design my own anime characters but I'm not sure whether I should start at square one in terms of art fundamentals or just get straight into drawing anime. I'm thinking of buying your book. Maybe I should just ignore shading and details and focus on getting the main shapes right to begin with. I don't want to waste time and I eventually want professional results, no matter how long it takes.
I don't think I'm going to be drawing anything else, really. I struggle with shading a lot, knowing where shadows and light should be, etc. I noticed you're left-handed too and that brings me some comfort, even if handedness doesn't really matter too much. I guess it's more of a psychological thing. So many right-handed artists.

I love your books and videos! They got me into drawing and sketching, I'm turning out to be a lot better then I thought I could be because of them so thank you so much! Do you have any videos of drawing people from a picture? I wanted to take a photo of me and my friend and draw a chibi version of us but it keeps coming out strange. I have your book on drawing chibi characters but I think seeing it in a video may help me a lot. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and stay well!

Hi! I just purchased this book for my 9 year old daughter who loves to draw but doesn't have much experience besides doodling on her own. She mostly tries drawing anime style. I am not artistic myself at all, so I'm not much help to her. Any advice on types of pencils, sketchbooks etc I should get for her?
