I’ve loved your work for a while but gotta say it was pretty disappointing to notice a seemingly AI generated thumbnail on this vid, idk if it’s the first time but it’s the first I’ve noticed. I get that you have a super high volume of content to crank out and it can seem like that’s just how things are going to be moving forward, but there wasn’t a single still from this 10 min vid that could’ve done the job It wasn’t the most egregious example like those cat head flowers but it still puts the same bad taste in my mouth, especially right after watching Jacque’s tomato pruning video and having the idea of what a tomato plant should look like fresh in my mind. I completely accept this is a fringe position in some online spaces but when I’m looking for something to watch I want to see what’s IN the video, not an algorithm’s idea of what it might look like. You have a good reputation as a very credible and grounded creator and that’s why I follow your advice out in my Yarden, fake images damage that credibility.

A few years ago I planted marigolds between cherry tomatoes. I planted one marigold between two tomato plants, just like I see at 1: 48. The marigolds went completely crazy. They grew about 20 inches tall and about the same in diameter. They were very bushy. Never before have they grown so large when planted alone on a flower bed. It looked as if the marigolds had sucked up all the nutrients from the soil, which had a very bad effect on the cherry tomatoes, which simply didn't want to grow, and the leaves turned yellow quickly.
Because of this bad experience, I now avoid planting marigolds next to tomatoes.

Any advice for strawberries I'm looking specifically for companion plants that can repel aphids and snails, my dad runs an organic farm and just started growing strawberries commercially. The spice juice spray I'm using for my own hobby garden works well enough so far, but it's too expensive at that scale, a companion plant scheme would be better for his 2 acres of strawberries.

Ok that is NOT what a squash beetle/bug looks like. Think an extra evil stink bug. THE WORST! Also pretty sure the 3 sisters squash leaves are nasturtium foliage
As far a companions go, I heard that daikon radish help to deter squash pests. Can’t say if it works but I’m definitely trying it this year. Certainly can’t hurt.

Horseradish can be invasive. We planted it in a bed near an avocado. We have harvested tons of horseradish and decided to remove and replant elsewhere. To no avail. Every year, we have to remove more horseradish in the wrong place. Be careful where you plant it. It needs to be contained like bamboo.

Great video as usual guys. One word of warning though. DO NOT plant horseradish direct into the ground. It's a complete thug of a plant and will take over everywhere. Believe me when I say that you'll never be able to be rid of it. It just returns and returns and probably outlive you.

I grow in raised beds and a couple weeks after planting my cabbage and romanesco, I had potato sprouts coming up among them. I obviously missed some of last year's potato harvest. It will be interesting to see how that combo does.

I’ve been planting cilantro with my potatoes, it shades the cilantro and keeps it from bolting. Ill try adding some bush beans, and putting some cosmos nearby too! (I love cosmos already so it’s not a problem)

About 2 weeks ago, I planted corn and cucumbers together thinking they will be fine. The corn is up a few inches, so the cukes should be up soon I had loads of cucumber seed, and planted them in multiple places.

Great video. Would love to see the same for a container garden. Such as 5 gallon buckets, 20 gallon tubs and various size grow bags. I'm in south Florida and the bugs during the summer are bad. Especially aphids.

I’ve also heard if you plant Hubbard squash near your squash plants the Hubbard squash will be a trap crop for the squash beetle because squash beetles prefer Hubbard squash over any other squash.

Planting basil and toms next to each other are an absolute game changer, i planted both of those next to each and am happy to say i no longer have tomato horn worms although it doesn't prevent aphids

It’s maybe a little selfish because I’m in the same area, but it would be amazing to have a note somewhere when each video was recorded.
That would help some of us in similar zones I think!

I eat a lot of beans, mostly pinto, every day, they stop giving you the farts if you eat them often enough that your body gets used to it (at least for me and most people)

Watching as a European seeing a lot of those pests not existing here. Yay for cold winters I guess. Only one I knew was Colorado beetle but not seen em in my garden.

Uuuhh. red alert. don't plant horse radish. You cannot get rid of it. ever. You'll have it in that spot for the remainder of your life. It will out live you.
