This is a fun one for you all. If you use a LOT of hydroponic basil in the kitchen like I do, using the method I outline LazyH-Online: 5: 55 it's called a heading cut. Thanks for the info on the video, this is actually exactly what I was looking for with my purple opal basil plant and tons of extra salsa jars. I've painted most of my jars black instead of worrying about wrapping, a strip of thin pin-striping tape from an auto store or thin painters tape will give you enough room to look in at the water level and at the condition of the roots.

That was a excellent video. I'm the one that commented on one of your last video about covering your container. You hit all base's this time. Excellent for the beginners. Lookin forward for next video. One thing you didn't mention is that some do the wicky kraky method with the wick in the water to the net cup. Wich doesn't matter to me.

I have young herbs (basil, chives, chamomile, lemongrass) that I bought last week and planted in too small of a container w/little drainage. I'd like to convert them into hydroponics. In this case I wouldn't need the rock wool and just carefully clean the roots and shove them into the net pot. is that right? Thanks.

Great video! I'm hooked. :) I love the idea of not wrapping the jars. It seems to me, a newbie at hydroponics, that if you are doing short time plants like lettuce and such, (20-40 days, you don't need the wrapping. Now I'm off to check out your other videos. Thanks.

Pretty sure you'd be better off using opaque jars because I think light on the roots can have a negative impact on growth. Maybe you could try painting or duct taping half of the jars to see how they compare.

Hello thank you for your information, new sub her. you answered all my questions except 2, when should I add more water to the mason jar? And when I do should I add plain water or water with nutrients?
reply

Hi super new to hydroponics, 2: 40 you add a hydroponic nutrient solution, do you make your own or buy it? and if you have ever made your own and it worked what is your mixture? Great video!
reply

Nice vdo. I would like to know about the pH and EC of the water with nutrients. What nutrients do you use. Can you tell in detail about the grow lights and if a humidifier is necessary?
reply

Hello - Can you please explain how you use the General Hydroponics solutions? The Amazon link shows a set of three and I want to ensure Im using it correctly for this method. Thank you!

With the LED lighting, how long to you leave it on for every day, and what is the light level at at the basil (lux? or how many watts, how close do you bring the light to the leaves)

Is there a reason commercial farmers dont use the kratky method all the way through growing? Just seems super simple and efficient vs using pumps etc. surely theres a reason!
reply

Nice job! Do you have a video that explains your lighting systems? I would like to try these different methods of growing but I'm kinda concerned about the electric bill.

Isn't that too much trouble? I heard you can just put the stem into a cup of water and in 2 weeks you'll get roots. You don't need all that jar/rocks/etc.
reply

If i put this on a large container then just float the plants on styrofoam and then put the whole thing next to a window. Will that work? And algea?

Thanks for the video you earned this
The music is great, I'm pretty sure I heard it somewhere, can you give the name or the link of it please.
