Canoeing, camping and primitive cooking on OSA Lake in Killarney Provincial Park, Ontario Canada. On June 9, 2016, I did a short, one-night solo canoe trip to OSA Lake in Killarney Provincial Park, despite the possibility that black flies and mosquitoes may be at their peak. OSA Lake is very popular due to its beauty and easy access, so its almost impossible to reserve one its 5 campsites during peak camping season starting at the end of the month. This time, however, I had the entire lake to myself and did not see another person on OSA or Killarney Lakes during the two days I was out there. The entry point for the trip to OSA is George Lake campground, which was relatively quiet when I launched my canoe. I saw a couple of other boats on George, but once I portaged into Freeland Lake, I didnt see anyone until I returned the following day. This was a short, last minute trip on a Thursday, so I didnt launch my canoe until 2: 00 pm. The weather was perfect, about 18 degrees Celsius, but because it was afternoon, the wind was becoming quite strong out of the northwest

Can't get enough of these clips wonderfull scenery.
Did not know the lakes where still feeling impact from acid rain.
In the Adirondacks lot of damage in the 1970's there was allways lot of talk about it then.
On my bucket list to get back there, it's a 1500 mile trek for me now.
Your vids keep me pacified for now thank you Shawn

Thanks for using a lighter. I laugh at these guys using a bow drill in their back yard thinking their badass. Go out in tthe middle of nowhere alone, cold, wet, when you really need a fire. I've never had a lighter fail on me and the ferro rod is just a backup.

It is a shame about the acidity I hope the lakes recover, in my part of the world it is all about habitat disappearing all the wildlands are being torn up for parkways, subdivisions, retirement communities, and golf courses. So sad. Too many people moving in!

The good news, for the future, is that there were plenty of minnows and crayfish, the canary in the coal mine for lake health. I'm sure in a few decades the fish will return to these acidic lakes

Great points about the rocks. Being in a wheelchair it is a real pain. So how do you like the Kelly Kettle? Good playing it safe from that hike at night. people die that way.

I would love to see a beaver that close! I read a book about a couple in the N. E. of US that helped beavers and they are much like dogs. I fell hard for beavers: )
