SUCH A FUN & INTERESTING VIDEO! AND WITH INTERESTING RESULTS! Not taking ANYTHING away from Caeleb. HOWEVER: There's still something you guys are missing in the overall physics of this comparison of human vs fish. And that is WEIGHT. Of course big Marlin & other large species of Tuna and Swordfish are as heavy & even much heavier than a human. but I'm not talking about the huge gamefish. I'm talking about all of the species such as Jack Crevalle, Yellow Fin Tuna, big bull Redfish, etc. Fish that are say, not over 50 lbs, or somewhere around 20 to 25% of the human's weight. so think about THAT. On a strength to weight ratio/basis. MOST of the saltwater species of fish in the 40 to 50 lb range are SO much stronger than a human per weight comparison. PLUS those fish can pull against that drag pressure for FAR LONGER. But I gotta hand it to Caeleb. he did a lot better than I was expecting!

Why is Caeleb making more power when diving When he’s swimming at the surface, part of the fin stroke may break the surface or operate right at the air-water interface. Once the fin comes partly out of the water, it can’t develop nearly as much hydrodynamic force, so part of the kick is effectively wasted. When he’s deeper underwater doing a dolphin kick, the fins stay fully submerged through both directions of the kick, so they remain loaded against the water for a much larger portion of the stroke. That gives him a longer, more continuous propulsive cycle and makes it feel like he can put considerably more power into the water. Great video!

Hear me out. My issue is him having the line coming up out of the water at an angle changes his ability to get thrust. Look up lifted truck tug of wars the truck that has a higher lift kit picks the other truck up and it looses its ability to pull. It is apples to apples since the fish fights at that angle but the fish can also go down at an angle

I know the point of this was to show how much stronger fish are at swimming than we are, but since we are designed to move on land, I think it would be a lot of fun to see this exact same type of video, but on land with like a Derrick Henry or Eddie Shaw just to show how much drag a human can pull on land compared to what fish can do in water.

Been watching your videos for about 7 years now and I always go back to the video of strongest men vs strongest fish with Jujimufu. One of these days if able it would be cool to at least see Brian Shaw or Eddie Hall going up against the Goliath Grouper and see how they do. Just a thought

There is no doubt it’s a fish. Try a tuna of the same weight as him and it wouldn’t be close. We are not designed for aquatic propulsion as he states early in the video. I was also a competitive swimmer for about 12yrs, into college, of course nowhere near the level as Caleb.
reply

There is something i dont understand i have watched your other videos where bodybuilders and powerlifters weighting 300 pound need atleast 3 people to keep them in the boat so they can catch the Goliath. And Caeleb did it alone whit no help. How
reply

The angler is ALWAYS going to win because its so rigged in their favor. The angler does minimal work and makes progress at every single moment the fish / swimmer isn't putting in effort. Its like trying to beat gravity without the ground.

fish, b4 even watching it, i kno it's a fish, fish are built for water, we adapt to water. thats putting up the fastest runner against a cheetah. Human vs nature, we lose every time, but still interesting, lets see

This could be a brilliant training aid. Swimming to failure like you would say bench press is next to impossible, but if you set the drag so it stopped the swimmer as they begin to tire, you could repeat it for reps.
reply

I had the idea when I was about 18 that it would be an interesting sport if you can tie dogs to deep sea fishing rods, like what you’re doing with a human. Like imagine a St. Bernard, or a greyhound.
reply

That will be so fun to go out into the ocean and catch such a massive fish. Bro was literally swimming in the exact same spot where he caught a shark and a Goliath Grouper, which is absolutely crazy.
reply

I don’t think people really appreciate just how impressive this is. I did this on land to to see if my girl could hold 50 pounds of drag. Let me tell you that I didn’t make it very far.
reply

This guy connected with fish on a deeper level and now I discovered a way to swim for a while in a small area! This could have huge training benefit, like weighted calisthenics haha.
reply

You cant compare a fish pulling drag to a human pulling drag. It’s like saying a body builder can bench press 100lbs 50 times. A blue marlin wouldn’t be able to do that.
reply

Love how they switched gears & continued on with Caeleb fishing for GIANT SHARKS( can't ya just picture some giant shark swimming away with all of his gold medals. LOL! )
reply

dude went home wondering if he came for a fishing trip or a physically abusive training session. by which he went home drained and smashed beyond imagination!
reply

Oh wow. I had no idea you guys are the same who make my rigs. I never put that together. I’ve caught tons of shark on your rigs and absolutely love them!
reply

You should bring the UFC fighter Alexander Volkanovski to a video he loves hunting and fishing I think it would be great, or bring other UFC fighters.

need to get Katie Ledecky very high stam might last a bit longer. even MP said he might not beat her in the long swims. the US swim team is why i watch
