Cleaning One of the Tastiest Inshore Fish

In this fish cleaning video, I fillet one of the tastiest inshore fish species, the snook. Snook have firm white meat and have very little fishy taste. The fish in the video was a slot snook that Ryan Nitz caught in our previous episode. In Florida, the slot size is 28-32 inches.

If you ever need fillet lessons let me know I give them for free. Not to say your method doesn't work but I can show you how to get all the meat off the fish without throwing it away. And how to get the bone out and bloodline clean without hacking the belly off

Umm yeah hi I thought they were not allowed to to be eaten because I was down in Florida and I was at a restaurant looking to eat a snook bet they said that they are not allowed to serve them please let me know why lol

2 questions: Why is it important to freeze/ice the fish first? Is it easier to fillet when frozen? Also, why remove the bloodline? Does that effect taste? (Sorry, these are probably basic questions.

In my opinion the fish should have been scaled along the areas where the knife would cut, to allow the knife to do a cleaner slice and a more sharp blade.

do you any experience of fishing the Caloosahatchee River? Ill be at the point, near the mouth in july on a full moon and wondered what to fish with

As a knife guy, this makes me cringe. get a better knife and sharpen it Your videos are awesome, less so your fillet skills and knife choice lol
reply

why you guys always waste the fish by doing fillets? START cooking the Whole-Fish after properly gutting, scaling & rinsing it.
