Transporting Fish For Big Bass Survival! (Pond Rescue) DU3L: So, our hood pond is about 2. 5 to 3 acres. I've got roughly 50 bass in it this week, my friends caught a ton also. The pond is about 4 years old. We've caught several 1 to 2 lbs. and 4 three pounders, and 2 over four pounds. We have another pond with no fish that is like 6 acres. We were thinking of doing this, and moving some of the dinks over to the big pond to let the bigger fish have more to eat. How many, and what size should we transport?

You only need to cull if you have too many bass. I know this videos almost a year old but if you haven't already, I would recommend talking to your state's fisheries management agency (whichever that is) and see about what you can do to find out exactly what your numbers of bass and other fish are in your pond (electrofishing for example. Then you can figure out what your next steps need to be.

Bass need to be harvested. I understand bass fisherman want to preserve the fishes for everyone, but it doesn't work like that for the top of the food chain. Bass will take over and after that, you'll get stunted growth which you have. There are formulas for how much fish you have you harvest to maintain a balance in ponds.

Dude. the big bass will eat the small bass. plus the small bass will spawn with the big bass. If you have a bass shortage the last thing you should be doing is culling. I would only recommend culling if you have an abundant population of bass and want to increase their size. You need to get a good spawn or 2.

Defiantly good stuff here! You can raise that pond exactly how you want now! Hopefully no one comes across and catches that 13 on you! When I was younger in Orlando I did this a lot around my neighborhood growing up. It was fun to raise fish and maintain the ponds with fish and bait! I enjoyed that a lot

Brandon - I'd consider using a collapsible laundry basket like the ones from Ikea or Walmart as an in-pond livewell. You can avoid lifting that heavy cooler into your truck by filling it with water after you put it in the back & keep the bass in the pond until you are ready to leave.

love the content and was just wondering if you've checked with the regulations on transporting fish/water down there. I know up here in minnesota it's illegal to transport fish/water from a body of water to another body of water unless you're licensed to do so

Yeah now you look like a professional, a professional idiot. Taking fish from one lake and putting it into another without quarantine, you run the chance to introduce parasites and diseases that could kill the whole fish population in the lake.

If you don't have crayfish or tadpoles/frogs I'd add those to the pond for the big bass. You were complaining about the fish only biting fish lures, so they'll start biting more lures if you start adding a diversity of baits.

For every pound you put in, two pounds must come out. 8 small 1lbers will eat as much as a 4lber! Big head, small body (malnourished and gone), small head small body (young fish), small head big body (future Giant)
