Skipjack are close cousins of Hickory shad. Difference is skippies are found in waters that eventually flow into the gulf and skippies never go into salt water. Hickorys are found in east coast drainages that drain to atlantic but are are only in the rivers late february to april give or take a little bit as the rest of the year they are ocean fish and only come to freashwater rivers to spawn. got a bunch of videos on them.

11: 45 Welcome to my life, tried to go fishing here in Ohio last week when it was nice for a couple days, but it was so windy it kept blowing my line back towards me. Also the weather change is because were finally going into a 2nd Ice Age, hopefully humanity can survive it.

I've got on skipjack on the river catching them two at a time with two grubs tied on about a foot apart. Me and a buddy quit counting after catching over 100 in a few hours - all about that size.

Brandon, I cringe when I see your rods laying on your tailgate. Please put rod gloves on them. That will keep your line from getting nicked and prevent you from losing a potential monster.

So cool watching you guys fish. I'm mostly a saltwater fisher so it's nice learning about different freshwater fish. Actually caught my first two pompano yesterday off the local pier.
