Went fishing down in Caye Caulker Belize with some local guys and we caught mackerel, snapper and cuda, 1st cast with net and we caught a tarpon in the cast net! Anyway we had met these local guys and been hanging and partying with them and it was awesome! So after fishing they invited us over for fish dinner after we caught the fish and they cooked the cuda along with the snapper n mack it was all fabulous! Caye Caulker is the ultimate laid back Caribbean island no cars just golf carts and kool locals! Good memories for me! I agree smaller cudas fine for dinner,

Capt. Pudding and Darcizzle know you get hit with a ton of questions but I think I've got a decent one. Gulf Amberjack opens May 1st and I was reviewing the regs and greater Amberjack is regulated different than lesser Amberjack and Rudderfish. How the heck do I tell the difference. I do not want to get busted with the wrong fish and I do not want to throw back a good fish thinking it was something else. Can you help? I fish out of Carrabelle, Florida. Thanks and I'm a long time fan of the show. Kenny

Yes the smaller Bsrracudas usually are edible, however the time of year can be a problem, but in say a peninsula, the rougher side are safer than the leeward side, copperweed, & smaller fish eaten bu those fish are the problem, there was a family of 4 in Jamaica, in the 50s did not make it, my grand mother used to put some sort of coin in the pots but if it turned colour, we did NOT EAT IT, Cheers from NJ

10 minutes is NOT ENOUGH time for CUDA to cook safely. Take this as the best advice; Dip your CUDA filets in lime juice overnight or at least 4 hours before you cook them. The Citric acid of the lime Kills many bacteria and microorganisms linked to Ciguatera. The Lime juice also gives it a great flavor to the fish. I hope you take my advice. Fish on!

Another great video, I enjoy catch and cook videos. I don't think there is a fish I don't like, that Cudda looked amazing. I think I might have eaten Cudda once, it was good. I am still praying for you and your family, especially your sister Megan on her mission trip to Spain. I love watching your videos, keep up the good work.

Hi how did you come up with your sources that you will not get Ciguatera posioning from this fish.
if the fish is under 5 pounds that is a lower risk. I just want to know how you came up with this and where you got your information from.

Friend of mine went fishin down there in keys. their guide made cuddacakes out of the bacarudas they caught. when we caught them in K W we threw em back cuz you don't eat bacarudas.

Barracuda is not a safe fish to eat they feed on fish that have high amounts of Mercury so the larger barracuda will almost undoubtedly have high amounts of Mercury in it

My recipe involves veggies, too. Dice the cuda up, toss it in your composite pile. Spread that over your vegetable garden and enjoy your bountiful pickings once they are ripe.
