I see comments saying one of us have to prove the non-native species are doing harm. She spoke only of non-native species she saw. She did not catch any native species either. The danger and evidence of releasing the non-native species is right before your eyes. They have out compete the natives species to the point they cannot successfully reproduce. She says the peacock bass were introduced as a control but that was based on science. They have still done irreparable damage in some areas. Yes they also have created a sport fishery. What about the other non-native species that have destroyed or irreparably damaged enormous eco systems like the Mississippi and Asian/silver carp. The water she is releasing the fish into connects to something somewhere, OR will if there is a tropical storm causing that waterbody to overflow.
You really have to look at the greater picture.
Sorry, but you have now been given the evidence you were totally ignoring (accidentally or on purpose.

Im sure youve got a live and let live attitude about these invasive species. I used to live in Miami and fish the canals too. But an FWC officer once told me that they would prefer you remove the non natives from the system as they kill off the native species. If theyre releasing peacocks into the system to control shad populations as you stated. then I dont know what the hell is going on. But I always remove anything foreign from the ecosystem when I encounter it because I believe it to be a negative impact on the native, natural, ecosystem. Fish meal is great for the garden!

That is a good girl right there. I had a girlfriend way back in 1992 like her. meaning she was the outdoor type, fishing type but could also be feminine like this one. She could also play pool and drink beer. I should have married that one. Instead I married another one who hates the outdoors, hates walking and hiking, hates the cold and the hot and doesn't drink. But she is much better inside the house and is somewhat of a homebody. Oh well. it still all worked out but I don't go fishing anymore like i used to.

Love watching your show, was cool to see you catch clown knife. This episode was fun and inspiring! Not to beat a dead horse, but if you catch a snakehead, discretely, keep it from returning it to the water. You should do an inshore show on invasive species, like u did with the lion fish

these fish probably got in the water by other people along the river cleaning out their fish tanks and dumping their aquarium fish in the water. So now you have a gigantic aquarium in your back yard. put some crappie and bass in the river.

Why don't you catch that big knife fish again and cook it up to see what it tastes like? That would be really interesting. Don't have to eat the whole thing, I'd be leery of anything in that canal.

The knives have a electric field around themselves they use it to find fish, protect themselves and navigate in tea like stained water. Look it up.

Yeah any exotic invasive species you do not need to put putting back in the water. Some of us happen to care about our local environment
