Hey John, may sound a silly question since bait bait bait is the norm, but have you ever tried catching flounder with artificial baits or lures before? i understand its quite popular in the states and most colder northern climates. Also with flatties what state of tides do you think is best for them to be on the feed? do you find more results with bait rolling around plain bombin or is it best to grip lead the bait to the bottom? Do you recce structure for these estuary marks. I love fishing the Tyne estuary but i never have look, last time i was molested by the crabs like: ) any advice is greatly appreciated mate thanks. keep up the good work watching some of your older stuff and its quality John

Thanks for sharing another informative video. I appreciate your time and trouble. Just like to say I like your style; cut to the chase. Not endless frames of sunsets, waves crashing in, or the fisrt 45 seconds of the vid showing some fancy graphics etc.
As a beginner I am looking for tips, techniques and advice; Short sharp and straight to the point.

I think you should patent that multi-tip adaptor before the big rod company's do, maybe if you make the tape look like carbon it will sell like hot cakes, Goodly video sir, i am so glad to see it does not just happen to me: ):, -
P. s have you ever tried circle hooks for pike, just wondering if it would help to stop deep hooked fish.

i'm surprised you let that one go back just the right size for my frying pan, john have you ever tried putting a dummy bait to draw the crabs away from your hook baits, i've had some success using a onion sack tied on a length of rope filled with odd bits of dead baits. many thanks scott

yet another excellent video mate, i know roughly where you fished i usually fish further back about a mile walk to the car.
i know some good rock marks if you want some later in the summer, some easy some very difficult most which i can not get down to anymore.

That was a sweet flounder, nice result, and great video as usual. As regards food while fishing, I normally take something I can eat with a fork as I-m odd about eating with my fingers when covered in bait goo, but that-s just me -.

What kind of flounder are they? Winter or summer? Or something different. We get both here in New Jersey Jersey with a few other flatfish like sun dial. Our summer flounder get up to 20lbs sometimes
