I caught a world record-sized Bull Shark in Africa while fishing for a 1, 000-pound Black Marlin. I traveled 8, 000 miles to Anantara Resort, a place known for some of the biggest fish on the planet. This 5-Star resort is located in Mozambique on the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago, where the desert sand meets the Indian Ocean. Everything is just bigger here in Africa, and one person has rediscovered this entire fishery- Aaron Simser. He owns Mozambique Sportfishing, the best fishing operation in the country. Over the next seven days, we will be fishing for giant marlin, tuna, jigging for exotic reef fish, and catching some of the biggest sharks I've ever seen. For those wondering why people leave the hook in the mouth, here it is: People leave hooks in sharks primarily for safety (to avoid bites) and because some believe the hook will eventually rust out, but many researchers and conservationists argue this is dangerous and cruel, advocating for quick release with a cut line, as hooks can cause severe, long-term harm like infection, preventing feeding. Some individuals, like shark behaviorist Cristina Zenato, also remove hooks to help individual sharks and educate the public, viewing the animals as individuals needing care, not just catch.

While in Africa last year on safari, I saw a video of a hippo and cape buffalo fighting the hippo kept biting the buffalo and the buffalo just stood there and kept letting out annoyance noises. The hippo eventually killed it, just for being too close to its water hole and the buffalo never fought much, maybe because of the massive size difference, maybe because hippos don't usually attack them. I think the buffalo are known for being tough because people commonly shoot them, walk into the bush to retrieve it only to find out the animal isn't dead and gets attacked.

Listen, I appreciate you for being a great angler and I also respect you for all you do for your fans to go out of your way to bring us great content and will always help support you because of everything you have fought through over the years however when you say those hooks fall out of shark mouths when you release them that is 100% false and actually is unhealthy for them, I watched a shark get a hook taken out and was so old it was rusted and caused an infection and really wish you would find a way to take those out before you release them.

A buffalo doesn't have a chance bro the world record Buffalo is like 2, 200 lb the world record hippos like 10, 000 lb hippo has a giant mouth with huge freaking canine teeth a 10, 000 lb freaking hippo kid freaking bite and grab a 2000 lb Buffalo and throw it around like a rag doll what's the Buffalo going to do try to kill it was its little horns I mean it might be able to hook and rip with his horn but I don't think so 10, 000 lb hippo that thing one bite at Buffalo once and it would be done Buffalo loses

Zillions of years ago, on 'River Monsters', Jeremy Wade helped catch, tag and release a bull shark probably 1200 pounds in a South African river. It was large but the funny thing is that river had never had an attack on humans (or almost never, it's been a while); the thing is the bull sharks in that river seem larger than normal and they seem to make a habit of 'nicking' game fish off the lines of both commercial and sport fishermen. As long as the 'tax is paid', humans stay safe, Wade opined.

mate I've been watching your stuff for years and I'm so glad to finally see you catch my favorite species, the bronzies fight so hard and we get them in my local area in Melbourne Australia inside port Phillip bay they're such majestic creatures nothing beats getting one of these up on the sand with everyone around you laughing at your gear because they're under the impression that you can only catch small species like squid and salmon in the spots we fish for them

I believe the sharks are starving, as there is too much overfishing in the commercial industry. That's why they go after everyone of your catches. Wow, those fish really put up a fight, by watching you straining. Amazing. Love the blue and gray camouflage! Awesome! Can't imagine the huge sharks you see in South Africa! Must be a dream being there! PA in the house. yessss! P. S. The hippo would probably win. They are dangerous creatures and huge!

That’s next-level, BlacktipH. Flying 8, 000 miles to Mozambique and ending up with a world-record bull shark while chasing a 1, 000-lb black marlin is insane. The Bazaruto Archipelago looks unreal desert sand, crystal blue Indian Ocean, and fish the size of trucks. Aaron and Mozambique Sportfishing clearly run a top-tier operation. Seven days of giant marlin, tuna, reef beasts, and monster sharks Absolute dream trip. Incredible video all around.

Massive fish, it might be a world record but to date, the biggest recorded bull shark was caught by Hennie Papenfuss in the early 2000's. He caught it in the Breede river, South Africa. Jeremy Wade also did a documentary on these sharks. The one Hennie caught was almost 4m in length. It was believed the fish weighed in excess of 600kg, but using updated weight calculation apps, a 4m female bull shark is around the 1000kg mark.

Every single time there is a shark video people in the comments complain about the hook. Sorry, if you like having hands / arms you’re not reaching into a sharks mouth to remove the hook. I bet none of you have ever snapped a line and left a hook in a fishes mouth. People have done it for years. The shark will be fine. They are resilient. Plus, the salt water helps with preventing infection.

People dont realize how well the under armor works as a warming layer when cold out! When my thin blooded Florida Keys ass went up north chasing Steelhead i didnt have any gear so i layered up with the UA and was the only one in our group who was comfortable, great collab for your merch Josh! Stuff is the truth hot or cold climate

Here in Minnesota, if anyone thought somebody hurt a fish, they would rock back and forth in their safe space, weeping, calling Tim Walz and Ilhan Omar on the phone. All the while supporting mining with their electric car, by-catch with their grocery store fish; and none of which they connect to the real world.

Listen who cares if they leave a damn tiny hook in their mouths You know how many sharks therr are Theyre taking over south fl with a vengance. Eating every other fish that fisherman catch for a living down there. Theyve been protected for so long that theyve become over grown

Great video! seriously enjoyed the footage
But I’ve gotta call out the title a bit: saying Caught in Africa is super vague. Africa is a whole continent with over 50 countries, thousands of miles of coastline, and a ton of ecological diversity. Still, awesome content!

you must come to South Africa and do shore shore angling in South Africa then you catch Bronze Whaler sharks, Spotted Ragged tooth sharks from the beach for the best experience for shore angling use Duvan Fishing Charters for the best beach shark fishing in South Africa

Impressed with the Sebastian inlet bottle trick. I always used a bottle anyway because the balloon may pop. Especially if you were old school and had to drop it off the bridge. I never comment but id love to know who taught you that trick

Man imagine being stuck on a boat with this dude, he's like one of those over excited kids who never shuts up, whose parents you never invite to parties because of their insufferable kid. You'd end up throwing him overboard

I live just a short trip from the MUSTAD factory myself.
My mom actually worked there when she was young by packing hooks.
So its cool seeing that someone recognize the quality they have.

Using plastic waste as a float that you know is going to come off the line in the ocean is about is flaw as you can get. Littering the ocean so you can catch a trophy is not the way. Lame
