I really enjoy your fishing video's in cornwall. I live in mid devon now. Interesting that you've made a visit to your roots. I recognised your accent in your earlier vids. I am definitely much better at fossil collecting than fishing. I have made many fossiling trips to the Yorkshire coast and love it to bits. Its rough rugged and like all foraging activities your rewards nearly allway are proportional to the effort you put in. Once on a fossiling trip and like fisherman us fossilers like a big tide I met a fisherman above Port Mulgrave early morning, the thing is he did not have a rod but a big hook on a pole. I think he was after lobster, in deep rock pools. He did not want to share his knowledge and I don't blame him for that, was he after lobster on a big ebb tide? Maybe you could tell me?

Well done, John and Tom. Sometimes fishing is more than just about fishing. I worked 25 years as an oil and gas exploration geologist come navigator. In the early years, when elf and safety were not such a big concern, we could fish at will from the vessels. One of my best sightings was of a nautilus swimming along, much as the ammonites used to. I got several fossils for Xmas from the family, mainly polished ammonite sections, but also a Madagascan fish. Getting back up the cliffs is getting harder but keeps me going. Thanks for your efforts and videos.

Man I use my wife's account on here my name is Preston I live in North Carolina USA I'd love to get to go to England and fish with with you. I've always wanted to go fishing in England one of these days I'm going to do a week or so there and go trout fishing and catfishing and ocean fishing. I want to catch a whales catfish. Is there a lot of fishing holes a man can get to and have good luck at. It would be awesome if you could make a video on the rules and regulations on fishing and on access to fishing locations. Have a good day buddy and catch a big one.

Here an interesting piece of useless information for ya, in the days when vikings pretty much ruled the seas alot of vikings carried a fossilised limpet or urchin or something like that because they thought that fossils were caused by lightning and lightning never strikes twice in the same place do the fossils would protect them from lightning -.
This is what I was told at a historical viking festival

its mental thinking about how much time has passed to form those rocks. Even 20, 000 years ago which is a blink of the eye in terms of a coupe of million years. Were only around for 100 years give or take. Just bonkers to think how long stuff has been sitting there, all the storms and ice ages it would have been through.

John - A similar trick I was shown down in Venice, LA, while using shrimp and squid for baits, was to take stripped fish carcasses from crab traps after they were cleaned up as crab bait and use the fish spine parts to wrap softer baits against using heavy carpet thread, as you are doing -10: 45.
