I never leave me rod straight up in the arrow I always stay up stream of the fish and bring my rod down to the side and even stick tip in the water this reduces tippit stress and allows me to turn the fishes head and control it better not knocking what u said just what works for me

That is not an emerald shiner but a shad. Check out emerald shiners -- no black spot. Does not really matter as the steelhead eat shad too.

Can you tie the zonker with mylar tinsel rather than the mylar tubing? Also, are there alternatives to the rabbit zonker fur? Thanks.
