Drew Benton, Hanselman Junior, Buddy, all of those guys on the Harris event had a phrase. Dance with the one that brought you. Meaning that thing, of staying with a certain lure. Not trying to hussle things in two directions at once. Benton threw two top water baits, Buddy ran his ledge pattern. Ray cranked through the grass. And they all batted far better than average. Dancing with the one that brought them. St. John's river might be representative or not. Of other locations (where two very different environments co-exist. One environment that was more stable behind a locking system. The other one, a river, which was not. And it represents the worse dilemma. For the guy who can't decide eventually. Who to dance with any longer. It's when both dance partners kind of gang up together. And freeze you out. That's what can happen. We're never as clever as we think we are. Even Aaren Marten I think. If I can interpret from Mark Zona's documentary. Could do some pretty wild things. But he was still 'locked in' to one thing. He just wasn't doing laps of the dance floor. In complete disarray.

Scott you are 100% correct our orchard backs up to the California Delta and I m out there 3 to 4 days a week and figuring out bite windows with the current and moon phases is the most difficult thing in the world there can literally be 15 minute bite window or they can last a couple hours and it all depends on current, water level, temperature, moon phase time of year and what they re biting on differs day today as well so you re 100% right that is so difficult to figure out. I ve literally went out in the middle of the night during full moon when you re getting big current after dark when the tides just don t work out right during the day and caught some of the biggest fish at night out on the Delta! Hats off to him for switching it up every day and figuring it out and thanks for pointing and giving him credit your super humble!

Flipping is obviously your strength and a lot of times your comfort zone. I think its just a confidence funk. I'm going to win, im going to know exact moves, exact baits, know the weather, feel the changes and ROCK THIS TOURNAMENT Quietly to yourself of course, but Repeat it the entire week leading up to. To yourself when you brush your teeth and looking in the mirror. When you're driving, hell, make a recording of your own voice and play it in your sleep. It WORKS. And definitely can't hurt. You were born fishing! You got this. Have a great TOURNAMENT season

If it ain t broke, don t fix it! It rings true every time. If something is working for you, don t change it. The percentages of something good happening, like changing and going back into the river goes down. Ride the horse til it drops. I watched one of your fellow anglers beat Buster Boyd bridge to death in a tournament on Lake Wiley. It was working and he stuck with it. I m a big fan of Scott Martin but the analytics of fish finders, depth, temp etc I am not. Go with your gut and I know it told you to stay. Get em next time. I will be watching.

Excellent video! Scott i am wondering something when you fish those tournament can you fish anywhere you want to as long as it is before weigh in time? Here what i was thinking, maybe not the first day, but when everybody weigh their fish in, where do they put the fish back in the water? If everybody let there fish go back in the water where you put the boats in maybe you could fish there and catch some of them fish again like on the second day. Just an ideal. Good luck and best wishes in your next tournament!

Scott you are a inspiration to me and I follow your content religiously! I even got my girlfriend wicked excited whenever you drop a new video; her favorite so far other than the Scott Martin challenge videos was the Amazonas series. With that being said: you have this my friend! You are going to do fantastic this season and you're going to finish this family business! Best of wishes from another man named Scott on this 2022 season! Tight lines and hook some more hydrilla gorrilla's!

Scott, I have to say that you need to start looking at what you're doing, realize that people are fishing the great genetic code out of a lot of places in these places and perhaps do stuff you wouldn't do. The people catching them are never near where you are in a lot of cases. I don't think that the gigantic big mouth are around like they used to due to overfishing. They're throwing very little more than fry into these fisheries without a damn idea what they're going to do.

Watched your Dad for decades, I've fished for as many?
In my humble opinion? Your relying way too much on 'electronics' to put you on fish. Yes I have fished many of tournaments. Won, or placed more often than not.
Seeing 'fish' is different from catching, you know better Scott?
Conditions dictate.
structure, water clarity, temps. get back too the basics.
I'd Love too see you start placing in the top.

Scott, I ll tell you what, we moved from Michigan a year ago to Ft Myers and I fished tournaments all over the Great Lakes state and cannot believe how much more difficult this place is to find and catch bass. You weren t that far off and are going to win one of these derbs soon. We re all pulling for you. teamSMC.
