Learn the basics of the Linux Operating System in this crash course for beginners. Linux is a clone of the UNIX operating system, so understanding one is understanding the other. The goal is for you to get a full understanding of how the Linux OS works. If you're still using Windows or Mac OS, you can still learn Linux using a virtual machine. -- Course from KeepItTechie. As someone who's been using Linux since before Mandriva I can 100% tell you that years of use does not translate to having full or extensive knowledge on the Linux OS. I just barely have a grasp on grep after 20 years of linux use. I've always used linux the same as I've used Windows, as a casual user rather than a power user where a ton of those tools are great for power users. Casual users only really need to focus on package management issues in my opinion. I'm actually using Linux on my Galaxy Fold 3 installed with Andronix through Termux being displayed on a portable monitor through VNC in DEX mode. Might not know Linux like a power user, but I can do other neat things :D

Sorry freeCodeCamp, I like all your videos, but this video is not a Linux Operating System Crash Course, this is even barely Ubuntu touch and feel. Working with files and some very very basic tools is not gonna make the cut. No information about networking, no information about the power and conveniency of CLI, what we can do differently and efficiently in linux or UNIX like OSs than others. And if this is a video attracting newbies into Linux, I really think, KDE DE is the way to go, or Gnome 40+.
Just some suggestions, not a rant . Love you Guys. Great effort BTW.

Virtual Box is giving me a difficult time. I followed the instructions and got up to the part of the install where VB said it needed to restart so I hit restart. I'm not sure if I was supposed to restart my actual laptop as well because it looked like it restarted INSIDE the Virtual Machine.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Perfect timing really. Was really looking for a comprehensive tutorial. I had basics of Linux this semester and it felt a little far fetched. For me, windows was a defining characteristic of a computer, till I found it's not.

great video! if anyone was wondering how he finishes some lines so quick; he's just hitting the TAB key after typing some of the beginning of a file, its a nifty terminal trick.

The only thing I wish you covered was how to move along the command line. How to delete the line, delete from the cursor to the beginning or the end etc.
