LMFAO I was just wandering about NZXT and how they still exist in any way shape or form. I ALMOST bought one of the H2 Flow cases cause there really is no other case like it. but F that it's probably still a fire hazard and I refuse to support them in any way. I hope this lawsuit destroys them. Now all we need is Newegg to fold. Newegg is selling car parts and all kinds of other things after the last scandal. Newegg didn't list an item I bought correctly, nor did they disclose there would be import fees on the item I bought. I then get a text message from FedEx saying I owe them money. It's not MY fault Newegg is Fing retarded and failed to properly charge me or properly list their items. Unless they're doing it on purpose not showing it, because I know dam well, I wouldn't have bought it if I knew that. Unless its intentional, and they're not importing anything at all anymore and just drop shipping basically everything making the buyer pay all associated fees. I only bought from them because I couldn't find what I needed anywhere else. First and last time I will buy from them

That's a little odd isn't it Five thousand for people who don't pay their debt and are delinquent while stand up citizens who paid get like max five hundred Shouldn't that be flipped Shouldn't they reward the stand up people of society with the five thousand payout instead
At the end of the day, it isn't like the people in debt didn't know they were renting. Why would you let them off the hook of money they owe I understand the consideration for the people who might have been misled in other aspects: The rent to own, the part swapping, false advertising. But that has little to nothing to do with the monthly obligation agreement they made. They still had the pc and were still renting it as agreed. If they thought the agreement wasn't a good deal for them or that they couldn't support the payment, they shouldn't have agreed.
I have some debt I owe, can we just clear 5k of that debt for no reason too

I mean, there should be enough profit if you 3X the cost of the machine(if people stop paying and wont return), charge 50-200$ a month as a pure rental. Free tech support(mostly form driven) and replacement. Then after 5-7 years offer an upgrade path (100$ fee per drive to keep them, or reset the PC and send it back for a newest best model in the performance range you selected, for a 200$, or get a cheaper modern equivalent or better performance wise for no fee, ship the old one back). No need to raise rates or offer anything outside machine performance tiers and direct sales. Hell if your in for 5 years get a 30% discount off all direct sales.
Between defects and returns or those that stop paying, plus cost of building and shipping, there should be enough money to make a profit, really shareholders enshitify everything.

Not defending nzxt/etc by any means. But in general there is no such thing as predatory loans, just incompetent people with no sense of financial responsibility. No one forces anyone to rent or take out a loan or get financing on literally anything. No one his holding a gun to anyone's head. There will always be dumb people that make bad decisions and then those same people will blame everyone but themselves for the situations they are in. Just like those idiots crying about wanting student loan forgiveness. All those people are are dumb people who knowingly signed up for something and then want the taxpayer to cover their poor judgement vs taking responsibility for their actions like the rest of the non mentally ill population.

It's a shame that all these sponsored influencers aren't also held liable for misinformation and false advertising to some degree, even if mostly symbolic. I still remember a bunch of them being real scummy about it when the news broke. At least one that I recall even had the audacity to claim he didn't know what he was advertising because no one can expect him to read the details of things he's trying to sell to other people and last I checked ignorance of the law is no defense. Certainly most of these influencers ought to get a wake-up call that diligence in choosing their ad sponsors is important and that advertising illegal/fraudulent products/services can end quite badly not just for those who fell for the scam.

The Flex 3 $280 a month, could build that system with the inflated Ram, SSD and Gpu prices for $2900 using high end components. That is 11 ish months of payments yet you will not own it at the end. NZXT could have charged you $280 a month for 18 months and you would own the $2900 system after paying them roughly $5k in monthly payments. As craptastic as that is would have been hands down more fair then renting a PC and having nothing after so much being paid.
Pro tip - Save $100 per month for 12 months and buy a solid gaming PC that will last you 3 to 4 years easy (Normal Ram, SSD, Gpu prices) Stop going out to Starbucks twice a week, pack a lunch twice a week and that adds up quick.

Honestly I see only 1 actual application for the NZXT rental PC service. I think it would be very attractive for individuals who are console gamers and are interested in PC but aren't exactly sure if it's something they're interested in or not. Renting a pc for 1 month so you can give it a fair go without having to buy in to a pc that you might be regretting later (buying a pre-built or building your own, and being stuck with it after you decide you don't want it anymore). It takes away buyer's remorse for those who have to deal with reselling it for more than a loss of what you could've just rented it for 1 month is.

And this right here is why I spent a ton of money on my own components to build my own system over the course of months as opposed to renting something and getting screwed out of my money. Do not rent shit from these douchebags, hell, I wouldn't buy something from them even if they're willing to rip others off and I don't. I don't buy NZXT cases or psus because of this bs. If they're willing to rip off people who are just trying to get by on what little they make and steal their money with no ability to ever buy the thing then it's theft and I refuse to buy anything from thieves or I might be ripped off next.

NZXT is done. I've never really liked their aesthetic and every since your coverage of this scam in 2024 I've avoided them like the plague. I'm not surprised their sales have dropped more than some other brands. First of all they price themselves as enthusiast products that lack in so many categories, offering less while being more expensive than even ASUS ROG. Tell my why a 360mm AIO from NZXT should cost $489 CAD... They are legit the most expensive AIO Memory Express sells... Even more than the TRYX Panorama. Never have I gotten the feeling that NZXT is a premium, enthusiast company.

does every class action lawsuit require a judge to determine and ensure that the result is fair for all parties involved cuz then why do the majority of them result in peanuts being paid by the offending company and then everyone getting like $2-$5 for something that basically destroyed a $1200 device or something
class action lawsuits are simply cost of doing business the vast majority of the time. it doesn't hurt their bottom line, it's not worth people filing the claim and it doesn't even change peoples' opinions, besides a very small few.

1. What percent of NZXT's ill gottem gains is this settlement
2. Requiring victims to fill in a form to avoid further abuse is backwards. After 2 years of payments all customers should be presumed to own their devices.
3. There should be no cap on forgiven predatory debt. It should all be null and void as it is illegitimate debt because it is theft through a scam. If anyone should be hounded by debt collectors it should be the criminal NZXT not their victims.

With the attorneys typical fee of 40% and not counting other added expenses, which always show up, that leaves $2,070,000 to be split among the 20,000 people harmed by these 2 scumbag corps, or #103.50 for each person...Who says crime doesn't pay...Until laws are written and enforced that seize all profits from corps related to those scams and then fine the boards and officers of said companies almost to bankruptcy, these scams and ripoffs will continue...

_Apartment renters have rights_
Only when enforced. I know a landord that has confined a tenant to their unit and engaged in illegal activity and habitability violations for more than 6 years, including ants in their tap water, and not USDA RD, HRC, or local police will stop them.
It takes someone with authority, in any case, to ensure enforcement of anyone's rights, otherwise companies will violate them with impunity.

Shame on anyone that continues to buy NZXT products! They don't have anything that you could not get from another manufacturer. They should be gone and bankrupt. Not to mention the fact that NZXT has probably made so much off this crap, that they won't even really care about this chump change. They need to no longer be in business, period. Consumers need to start fighting back.

I remember when you all did that rental story initially and some people were giving you shit over it. It probably feels pretty good being justified in questioning such a program and how it was done. It always looked shady to me at the time, how they marketed it. It's nice seeing one of these companies getting taken to task over their shitty practices and having to pay for it.

I miss the old NZXT. They made interesting-looking cases which didn't cost a fortune. I had an NZXT Lexa Blackline. It was beautiful at the time and it had a little temperature display at the top of the front panel with three thermistors for CPU, HDD and SYS temps (or whatever temps you wanted to measure, but they were labeled and shown on the display as such).

The funniest thing about 6/7 is people who become vaguely aware of it and hate it still fall for it, then feel bad about that, and fix their behaviour to not say 6/7 even when it would be perfectly appropriate to say. The meme has incredible power.
I want you to know I'm going to do the hand motion in real life right after I post this comment.

I really liked my NZXT keyboards. My next ones will absolutely be from another company. It's hard to believe that NZXT could make such a good product and yet choose to be such a vile company. I remember looking at the video where the CEO was speaking; he's a terrible, little gremlin of a man. I don't understand how such people can exist.

Personally I don't have a problem with rentals, it's not for me but I understand some people may have no other option. That said, I don't like predatory practices. They don't need to go hand in hand. I'd much prefer rent to own, but not at NZXT's premium, that was outright exploitation and a rip off.
