And so it begins. Yep I agree with Chris, as an OS becomes more popular, the bigger the target it will become. However, thanks to years of having to deal with threats to various Window OSs, many people know good practices like Chris pointed out here, the biggie being only downloading from trusted sources. The best anti virus your desktop can have is a user who practises safe internet behaviour. That was true 30 years ago and it's still true today. I do wonder tho if this will prompt ports of the more popular Windows anti malware programs to Linux.

Word of advice, don't use ClamAV it is very easy to bypass and so is antivirus scanning, runtime is where you find most detections but this can be circumvented easier on Linux than say windows.
Get yourself something like Eset which is known for being harder to bypass on average. (If you're gonna use an AV make it a good one, the best AV will always be common sense and virtual machines)

Fun fact:linux mint has the same terminal as Ubuntu. Meaning litrus can work on more than just Ubuntu. Litrus has an site showing what it's about. Allowing windows games to be ran on linux. And other types of games.
Meaning call of duty and older gamers under call of duty modern warfare ages are able to be freely installed. Iso,6cd,or other supported formats of the disc image.

The only OS I trust is the one that people don't use much, when browsing at the deep web I use FreeDos because it's simple to use and I have a way lower chance to be hacked, also I don't keep anything on this system besides old MS-DOS games and programs, I'm a linux and Windows user and I can write viruses for both systems, they are equally not secure.

two quick comments: 1. There is a difference between a trojan and a virus. This is a trojan malware, it doesn't replicate by itself. 2. There was some repository hacked in the past. The kernel had some backdoor put in, Gentoo was also hit. Response and fixed where made quickly which is probably why people tend not to remember them.

I want to replace Windows 10 and even Mac OS with Linux. To do that, I need to replace Photshop (edit images and creating diglital flyers on social media for a non-profit organization), PhotoBooth (webcam recording) and iMovie (video editing) for my workflow. What are your recommendations?

Hey guys, I have a question. In Linux Mint I can go to start menu, then to themes, then to add/remove button. Are these themes, which I can download, controlled by the developers and safe?

One scary thought is that someone could target linux repos and hide some sort malware. If it is timed around a mayor update a bunch of people could get infected after running that upgrade.

I know seinux isnt antivirus but it is a security mechanism, does it stop the script from accessing the files it needs to access to prevent it from being able to capture or send anything?

I always run ClamAV out of respect for Windows users on my network, however I haven't encountered a virus in almost 13 years out of proper computing practice and experience.
