Just tried 2004 update and to be honest it became more of a struggle than it was worth to get things to work properly, including the final straw which was the HDMI output that refused to stream properly regardless of drivers. As to the performance improvements that Microsoft claims. To be honest I sometimes get the feeling a lot of folks think software can magically turn your old duel core into a quad core super duper thingy. The reality is, its just software, and if your original software works, your probably best to stick with it. Maybe out of Curiosity I'll investigate the next windows build. But as the saying goes, (If its not broken).

But specific thing for me is that, you hate windows so much that you use it because u admit that you cant use linux more than windows, when it comes to software. And in same time, you dont try something more helpful. Imagine creating your own Windows OS. Like from scratch. Okay thank you for debloating things, but you dont know how is it to try to optimize for all machines something that has been going a while. Its like asking Forza to recreate sounds. I mean no really appreciation from your side. Other than that, you are really into this stuff so I respect you to some border. But really you should get some -Balance-.

I installed this update and had a few minor issues. My ethernet failed, and couldn't get wifi to work either until I ran network reset, and rebooted.. wifi worked when turned on, then I unplugged the ethernet cable and reinserted, its working fine now. Had to unplug and plug back in hdmi cable to get sound back for it. Computer is: Lenovo Edge 2-1680 laptop with 8GB ram and 1TB Sandisk SSD and external LG 65in UHD 2nd display running in 1920x1080p. Performance might be a little better still not as good as it was before 1909 back in 1903 or 1809.

Have you heard about the Forbes article -Microsoft Gave a Billion Users a Reason to Quit Windows 10-? It's about this specific update which seems to break Windows Fresh Install and makes you getting stuck with a broken system or losing your data in case of any critical bug happening. This problem was actually reported from many beta testers and still ignored from Microsoft. So upgrading to this patch could potentially make you lose important data in the future if they don't fix it somehow soon.

I downloaded this update onto my 10 year Old Laptop. (To test if version 2004 would give a boost to out of date hardware). And I noticed around a 16% performance increase. ( in some cases close to 20%.) So I would say Windows Hit a solid homerun with this great update. Hopefully they can keep this win strike going.
Edit: Also, the new Edge browser seems a lot more snapper too.

Yes, Chris, I have to agree. Microsoft has done a pretty nice job w/version 2004. Was not happy w/update KB4524244 in 1909 as it did not allow me to Reset This PC. But, after looking up some possible solutions, a friend of mine might be able to recover the HDD.
Looking forward to a smoother and more stable Win10 Pro experience this time around, and hopefully in future builds!

FYI, there is an issue I didnt account for, they disabled the auto login feature by default, instead of running -control userpassword2- and setting it, you have to disable Hello Sign in first, found this out after frought epos rebuild last week in London.
Also I caught corona that day too, so in my case the update gave me a virus too, fun times!

Hey you said you are dual booting windows and linux right? I have dual booted kali and windows from last week. Don't you ever have any problems with updating? Like the windows update overwriting the linux drive and the linux update overwriting windows drive and corrupting each other?

Maybe I missed it but did you mention one of the biggest features of v2004...hardware-accelerated GPU schedule! It's a pretty big deal and in many cases has increased the bottom 1% of fps benchmarks by as much as 20% (reduces lag spikes and gives smoother fps).

If you are a gamer i don't recommend the version 2004, specially if your games are cracked or free...
In my experience all my crack games are crushing since i installed this 2004 version. I suggest to stick to your version 1909.
just sayin'
