Discover what blend modes are, how they work, and how to master them in Photoshop once and for all! Join PiXimperfect Pro - The Ultimate Photoshop Training Course: https://pix.live/pro In this video, we'll uncover the science behind blend modes and sort all 27 of them into six simple groups, so you always know which one to reach for. We'll start with a fun double exposure and clear up the difference between brush and layer blend modes. Then we'll put the most useful ones to work on real photos, with Multiply for dramatic skies, paper textures and realistic shadows, Screen for glowing bokeh and vintage effects, Overlay and Soft Light for natural dodge and burn and background texture, and Color for fixing color problems and even bringing black and white photos to life. Along the way, you'll pick up a few clever tricks too, like using blend modes as quick adjustments, lining up two photos perfectly with Difference, and using Photoshop's special blend modes to create posters and dramatic lighting effects. Whether you're a complete beginner or blending modes have always felt like guesswork, this lesson will help you blend layers with confidence.

Hey unmesh , i need to clarify something to you and all photosop users out there , in the minute 25:50 , when you said there are 2 ways to dodge and burn , the 50% gray layer has wrong informations that got carried falsely along the way , the technique of creating the 50% gray layer is meant only when using the (Dodge & burn) tools , not the brush itself , because you cannot use the dodge and burn tools on a transparent layer , therefor you create the 50% gray layer , but the brush can paint on transparent layer so there is no need for the 50% gray fill .
i hope this reach you.
thank you so much for all the knowledge you shared along the years , i have been following you for so long now and your videos changed my artistic life forever.

the grouping is what made blend modes click for me: darken modes drop out white, lighten modes drop out black, and the contrast group ignores 50 percent gray. once you know which color disappears you can basically guess the right mode before trying it

This sounds incredibly childish of me, but you are truly a photoshop god. It's as if you made the software yourself. Love how enthusiastic you get about teaching, as well. (:

I like to use blending modes when using things that brighten and darken because it's often actually whitening and blackening and I like to keep a bit of color

Sir, I have a question, what can you say about AI...when it comes to Photoshop and in the future.. Will Photoshop be affected, regarding the use of AI
