My understanding of network bonding is that you cannot exceed the link speed of the member interfaces in one connection. A connection will stick to one interface in the bond after it is established.
However, connections are now split between the two interfaces. If you were to have two connections running from server A to server B, then the connections shouldn't start bottle-necking each other as far as bandwidth goes because they will be traveling across different interfaces. Your total bandwidth using multiple connections should be 2Gb/s, but each connection will be limited to a maximum of 1Gb/s.

So a 1 gbps network isn't fast enough for a home network? On what planet is this?
Used Cisco and HP Procurve gigabit switches are cheap as chips on ebay. Like less than the cost of a meal out for 1 person.
10 gbps networks are only required in places like data centres where multi-nationals have their mega server hubs.
I've enjoyed a lot of Chris's videos, but this one on networks seems to be recommending a large amount of spending for no real gain.

That was an interesting little video. Would have been cool to see some testing with NFS, especially on the Mac. I tried to set up iSCSI to my crappy DS212j and found it to be about 10-20% slower than NFS - got this recommendation from someone on the /r/homelab subreddit and was super unexpected for me. Maybe give it a try and let us know if it can be used for 4K editing, would love to see the result :D

On Windows 10 pro at least i have tested and you can create nic teaming. Using this
Run Powershell as Admin-
(Shows the nics)-
Get-NetAdapter-
(Create a Team)-
New-NetSwitchTeam -Name -name of team- -TeamMembers -Ethernet-,-Ethernet 2- etc-
(Shows info about the Team)-
Get-NetSwitchTeam-
(Remove the Team)-
Remove-NetSwitchTeam -Name -name of team-

You didn't explain why should you enable Jumbo Frames. Jumbo frames can cause higher latency and they are used only for higher throughput. You used the server for benchmarks, but for home networks (which most people are using) you should keep Jumbo frames disabled. The title of the video is -How to Create a Fast Network- while it should be -How to Create a Fast Server Network-.

Thank you, Chris, but I think, that this time your idea is not really good. With iSCSI block access protocol you turn your NAS box into DAS with long cable, because you can't use these drives from other devices without cluster filesystem. Leave block storage for SAN and clusters, home users should use only file access protocols.

Hi Chris, When you get time could you do a video on maximizing performance of a home network that has a router (ADSL or Fibre) with just wireless to connect between each Linux PC and a Linux PC acting as a server? Thank you.

-Hey let me show you how to replace your $60 HDD with a $2000 network setup and a few days of configuration and troubleshooting so you can shave a couple seconds on loading games... like... if you only play one game...-

Chris, Ebay is full of used server sfp+ network cards and fiber transceivers for pennies and fiber cables are cheap. Could you take some of those cards to test and show how to get them working. I can't get link to activate.

Hilarious, as in Ireland, we can't even get 1GB even with a FTTH connection but hey we still paid the price of a 10GB FTTH connection...
Ireland always 20yrs behind in technology --
