What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called -Linux-, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called -Linux- distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

I tried the debian titus install from your git hub, but i was not able to complete it. There is no wifi driver so i could not complete the steps as outlined in your video guide. I was trying to install this version of Linux in an old client hp pc that only has 8gb ssd. To get internet I would have to go to my router and plug ethernet cable directly to it. I was hoping to just use the wifi dongle that I have used with other linux distros in other computer in the past.
I was kind of bummed out as i was looking forward to it. I suppose i dont know enough about linux to figure out how to get a driver or ocntinue the installation process with out network access.

Thanks, Chris Titus, you're genus in the Linux distro but what I can ask from you is please tell me the Best Distro that can Read iPhone and Android Phones without difficulty. It's like I have become a distro fanatic, I jump from this distro to that and I feel I'm in dilemma. Please help me to find one distro that is compatible with Kodi and android. I'm a fan of IPTV apps entertainment. I jump from this distro to another but right now I'm using Reborn OS and Pop OS. But still, I'm not satisfied.

You mentioned upgrading from debian testing to sid, or debian unstable. Would you argue debian unstable is still stable enough for use? It sounds kind of risky, but debian is kinda known for exaggerating with their name scheme. And why download the testing branch from their site when you intend to upgrade to unstable anyway? I was just wondering, cheers

I had to reinstall this to my main drive and now I get several network errors for iwlwifi during the installation process.
Update: I found our it for wifi and skip it. On reboot it goes to bios and won't boot at all now from SSD. I try a different distro and same thing. I reflashed the BIOS thinking it would fix the firmware. nope.

If you ever get around to trying Barrier, would you consider giving a quick review vs Synergy? I've used Synergy-1.8, but it tends to be a bit laggy. But, I like using it with RDP so that I can send special key combos to PCs I have supported in other spaces. Thanks again, for an awesome video! And now, for an awesome desktop!!!

I guess you won't answer this but I have been following you for quite some time now (probably a few years) and you used to say that you like to have the greatest and latest, and used to run vanilla arch. Why now Debian? being quite the opposite of greatest and latest

This comment doesn't have anything to do with this video. Didn't know how else to thank you. You gave me the courage to try to change my desktop environment and everything went wonderfully thank you. I've learned so much about Linux from you

Thanks Chris. Tried it out in Proxmox VM and was having some issues but more than likely due to my inexperience. Would be great if could have an ARM version of Debian (preferably 64Bit) so could play around with this on Raspberry Pi.
