How to Boot/Start Mac in Recovery Mode? Recoverit data recovery for Mac: http://bit.ly/2T5NGBx Mac recovery mode is essentially a partition of your hard drive that includes the latest version of macOS. You can use this mode to diagnose and fix issues, restore your mac from a time machine back up or even completely wipe your mac. And there are some occasions that you might need to boot Mac in Recovery Mode. So how to start your mac in recovery mode? Firstly need to restart your Mac, this can be done from the main Apple menu, then click restart. When your mac is restarting, hold down Command and R when you hear the startup chime. Wait a few minutes and the OS X Utilities window will open. When booting mac in standard recovery mode, it is booting using data stored locally on our own hard drive. But what if that part of our hard drive with the recovery options on had become corrupt? What do we do then? Well, Apple has given us a handy option of Internet recovery mode, this means that instead of using the data on your hard drive. How to start up your mac in internet recovery mode? It will connect to Apple servers and download a fresh install file. Apple also performs a quick memory and hardware check too when booting in this mode. If your hard drive is corrupt and can-t be booted in standard recovery mode, your mac will default to Internet recovery mode. You can also manually boot in Internet recovery mode, when restarting, again after the chime, press command, option, and R, instead of just command and R. It seems kind of obvious, but we will say it anyway Internet recovery mode requires an Internet connection, if you-re not connected via Ethernet, then you will be prompted to connect to the Wifi. If your mac is really old and is running OS 10:11 or older, then you may not have the recovery options we have just talked about. Now if this is you, or if local or Internet recovery mode didn-t do the trick, then don-t worry, all is not lost. We have another option, and that-s to create a bootable installer from a flash drive. I bought a mac pro over a year ago. Since then i haven't been able to use Alt to boot from usb ever. The command never registers. I can't tell you how frustrating it is. If there was just a bios there i could use it to boot other media, but no, it has to be subsumed into a -slick solution- that hardly ever works. And when it doesn't work, i might reset the power to save time if i wanna try again. Well, that might corrupt some filesystems on some of the ssd's that's plugged in. If those file systems gets corrupted from a power loss, i have to uplug everything, slide the mac pro out of it's rack, open it up, disconnect every hard drive inside, and keep rebooting the system while connecting every hard drive individually between boots and checking file systems on the disks. Because if i don't do this when there's the slightest corruption in some ssd file system, the computer won't start. An I'm not talking about the boot drive FS. Just some random video storage drive.

Nothing works. I have Catalina on a Macbook Pro (late 2009, 13-) and I want to switch to ANY 32-bit compatible earlier OS. I Also want to be able to dual boot Windows 7 instead of Windows 10 (which I won't even bother installing). I have tried all boot key combinations to get into recovery mode. I have tried making multiple bootable flash drives GPT and Extended Journaled. They are readable and mountable in Catalina, but the MAC will not boot from any of them. When I try to run say the Mojave Installer app directly from the OS it says that it is incomparable app (probably 32-bit). My music keyboard drivers and software require Windows 32 and might be compatible with Mac 32-bit, but NOT 64-bit.

Just a little heads up for anyone trying to boot their iMac with a bluetooth keyboard and having difficulties entering Recovery Mode. What my issue ending up being and it makes sense now based on the sequence of event, unmount and disconnect any and all external USB drives. I have three 1 TB SSD drive hanging off my iMac. The boot sequence will mount the drives prior to the keyboard connection that will cause the Command R to never be seen early enough in the boot sequence to take effect. Hope this helps someone.

In this situation what I did was first I arranged an external hard disk with USB connector and a Windows PC or laptop and transmac software in Windows PC then I connected the external hard disc to my Windows PC and open transmac software then I formatted the external hard disk in MAC file system and then I restore this external hard disk with Mac OS DMG file then I connected the external hard disk to the Macbook and restarted the Macbook then and Mac installed the operating system. Try this.

I did like you said, five times and all I get is my log in screen. Instead of telling us we did not do it right, why don't you tell us how to do it right way on all Macs. I does not work with a bluetooth keyboard. I do not have any external hard drives connected. This guy is telling you guys all wrong. You have to shut down then hold Command and r down before you hit the power button. He says as you restart hit the command and R.

Hi, great video! I need to disable System Integrity Protection in El Capitan 10.11.16. Starting the macbook in recovery mode doesnt give me the option to use terminal, it only shows the world icon spinning waiting for internet connection. Do you know another option to enter terminal in recovery mode? Thanks!
